Good Morning, You are welcome and the slave schedule for Russell Co. VA is on Mike Dye's excellent site on www.usgenweb.com Mike is the CC for Russell County, VA. I do allot of research in Russell Co. as that is where my English-Fraley-Osborne-Shoemaker Ancestors lived and many died. Good Morning Marie and All, Marie thank you for the links to your homepage and also for the lookups you have done on the surnames: Bass and Mallory. I had used their articles/columns maps and census extraction forms before I ever subscribed to the Census Images. However to access the Slave Schedules at Ancestry you must be a subscriber to their Census Images online as I noted in my post. I was answering the question asked by another Southern Plantation subscriber on the list about how to get to the slave schedules. I'm sorry if I offended anyone. The article that I mentioned, UNRAVELLING THE 1850 & 1860 SLAVE SCHEDULES, is not at Ancestry and may be of use to anyone who is researching the slave schedules. I am not researching any slave names so far. My gr gr gr gr grandfather Peter Luna, wholived in Marshall Co. TN until his death in 1851 owned some slaves. I have a copy of his will but it doesn't mention them by name in the will. It might in court documents following his death. I've not had the opportunity to check. I have transcribed the 1850 & 1860 Slave Schedules of Van Buren Co. TN and have them online at the urls below (You will probably need to copy and paste into browser as they are long urls) 1850 http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~rmbeckman/census/TN/vanburen/slave1850.html 1860 http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~rmbeckman/census/TN/vanburen/slave1860.html Thanks, MarieB
Please lookup in the 1870 SC census Adam McFarland (Chesterfield county)
Marie, Quick question: Is there a correlation with the Page number that shows when you get a federal census record "hit" from Ancestry.com and the pages that contain the images (and not an index). For example, I found a Thomas Pattillo on page 222 of NC 1870 federal census index for Granville County, but when I went to the actual images for Granville County, NC, 1870, there are over 600 pages and no relationship to the page 222 that showed on the record match. Any help you can provide will be appreciated. Marie, I have found using the Slave Schedule without the index is too painful. I found in the 1850 NC, Craven County, the images but no indexes. I located an Elizabeth Bigelow but it was after waiting for each image to show up and then enlarging each one. Are you using a process that is easier to view images? I'm going to go to the library and use the microfishe. It's got to be easier. ----- Original Message ----- From: Marie Beckman <rmbeck@bellsouth.net> To: <SOUTHERN-PLANTATIONS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, September 01, 2002 6:20 PM Subject: [Southern-Plantations] a few more Bass households on SC Census > Here are a few more I found that were in SC > --MarieB > > 1800 Chesterfield Co.
