    2. The site to find slaves by first names is http://www.ibiblio.org/laslave/ It has more than Louisiana. I think it has Arkansas, Mississippi, Illinois, Alabama, and Florida. Anyway, you can check it out. I have found it to be helpful.

She and her daughter end up in Victoria, Texas there she was married to a Chataw indian who I think name was Harry.She then had another child name Pasty born Dec.2,1879 as far as I know they resided in Victoria, Texas around 1895 because. both daughters had childrens that were born in Victoria and their children. If anyone would look up this information for me I would be highly appreciative for your help.Thank you in advance,Rtskee

    2. By the way, there is a site set up where you can put the slave's first name since they only had first names, check the parish they lived, other information if known and all slaves with that first name will come up. You click and find age, owner, etc.

    2. Thanks Marie....Yes, James and Jessie Sandifer would be the slaveholders. There were two other counties that the Sandifers were in, Lee County and Coahoma County, but I'm not sure of the time period. Thank you for looking into this for me.

Va. I was told that they lived on the Willis plantation during slavery. They had a son named Robert who married Georgeanna Carter. Maybe she was related to the Carters that you mentioned. My Payne family migrated to Fairfax, Va. sometime before 1880. Etta

Do you know the first name of the Sandefer who would have been the head of house in 1860. There are 53 pages of Slave Schedule for Winston Co. MS. They are somewhat easier to scan over for names of slaveholders than the free census and most times the writing is better :) I did find a listing for Sandifers in the 1850 Census for Winston Co. will include that below 1850 Winston Co. He should be showing up in the plantation listing but I can't find any mention of him.
