Hey Y'all, Now I've gone and done it... I was picking green beans the other day and my back started hurting, but I just kept on and on and now I can hardly get up out of a chair. Guess I'm getting too old to have a garden anymore, eh? To top off picking three rows of beans, I also cut the grass and canned 7 quarts of green beans. Maybe this will teach me to NOT overdo it for awhile. I still have half of a Bradford Pear tree down in my front yard. The wind snapped it off last Friday. My children pull in the yard and say "I see you have a tree down." Huh??? Nobody has offered to help with that. Y'all feeling sorry for me yet??? :O) I'm not worrying about any of it though... things will work out in the end. My three little Rhode Island Red chickens spent their first night outside last night. I have a pen, about ten feet long, and the top of one of those plastic dog houses in it. They finally went into it about dark thirty last night. My back hurt so bad that I just couldn't reach in and move them back into the shop behind my house. They are growing like weeds. Do any of you know how old they will be before they start laying eggs? They'll be 5 weeks old this coming Sunday! I was hoping that all three of them were hens, but I think one is a rooster! Oh well... Take care all and somebody say something... I haven't seen any messages on here for awhile... Mary Clyde in South Carolina
HEEEEYYYY!! sorry to hear about your ailments.....I think I keep the Absorbine Jr. company in business. I am thinkin' back....way back.....about the hens...maybe about 5 months?? I think after a couple of years gramma put them in the stew pot as the hens were eating more than they were producing. Those green beans sure sound scrump-dilley-iscious!! YUMMMEEEE Well,,,,, I suppose you could set the fallen tree on fire,,,,,accidentally,,,,,, then run in and call the fire department,,,,, plead insanity - on second thought - not such a good idea. I don't think you would be allowed a computer in Jail or the LoonBin either. paulette in sw fla usa....and why is it called a "looney bin"??? Mary Clyde, Sorry about the damage to your pear tree, those strong winds can do a lot of damage. Glad to hear that your garden is producing, you must have gotten some much needed water. My brother who lives in Gainesville, Geotgia near Lake Lanier, says they got some rain but not near enough to bring the lake back up. Sorry about the back pain, I can sympathize. It has been an ongoing thing with me for years. Three damaged vertibrae and a fractured tail bone in a bad fall many years ago. I have to be really careful about what I do or it will give me a bad time. Hope you are feeling better and that your garden will do well. I miss being able to have a garden of any size but I can't do one anymore Best to you, Belle in North Las Vegas, Nevada ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mary Clyde" <searchingkin@yahoo.com> To: <SOUTHERN-CHAT@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, July 18, 2008 5:48 AM Subject: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] Doing too much! > Hey Y'all, > Now I've gone and done it...
