Emma This is what I understand ,remember I don't understand any to much .Our economy isen't looking any to good right now so they take their $$$$ to foreighn banks so there is less chance of them losing it .I think our banks failed in the depression and this was one reason why .So the little guy got stuck holding the bag .Just my summation ,you might know more about it . It takes me longer to shop now than it did before because I'm looking at the labels and actually reading them ! It's been a eye opener for me ! Linda a label reader now and enjoying it ----- Original Message ---- From: Peace Roses <Roses4831@msn.com> To: southern-chat@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, March 20, 2008 6:53:43 PM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] Prices are rising...... AMEN and AMEN to both of you. I look to see where something is made before buying it. If a can of something is made in Argentina and another can is made in Spain, I buy the one made in Spain. I've often wondered why Americans put their money in foreign banks. Don't they want to support America with their money? I know I'm naïve but just wondering. Emma ----- Original Message ----- From: Linda Rogers<mailto:lindahazenrogers@yahoo.com> Belle , AMEN and AMEN ! Another thing that would help is these folks quit transfering their bank accounts to foreighn banks ,At least it would make our dollar strong again .I'ts not doing to good these days the yen is stronger than the dollar. Linda walking a lot more these days and enjoying it ----- Original Message ---- From: Belle Shepherd <belleshep@cox.net<mailto:belleshep@cox.net>> Ithink we should avoid buying anything made in a foriegn country regardless of the need and cost. Every lost sale, enough of them will get the message through the blockhead store managers. No sales, no reorder, no incoming shipment from a foriegn country. When they realize that the unwanted goods is not selling, only taking up shelf and counter space that should be used for American made products. We need to have more "don't buy gas days." Wonder what the Saudis would do with all that oily sand should the glut hit the market and sales were cut back considerably? We all need to do what we can, though it be in a snall way, to get this country back on its feet. Refusing to buy foriegn goods is a start. Driving less is another way.
