Well...girls and guys, it seems the hard times we thought wascomng, was dumped in our laps.If you have any mutual funds, or money market money that you wlll need in the next ten years..you best draw it out. Bu I hope that the FDIC is insuring the CD's up to an amount. I have sure noticed more and more bare shelves in the supermarkets, or spasely stocked. I sure envy you all that own a paid for home, with land to grow food. I wish I had kept mine. This apartment living is not for me...but I am stuck. I have been looking at some of the foreclosures around here...can't secide to go back into a home. I really am not able to care for lawns and upkeep on a house. Everyone check in, and tell us how ya'll are doing. I am enjoying the football sason here. Our Crimson Tide has won all games so far. Stella
Mornin'..... well, stella,,,,, I'm in your boat so scoot over a little bit. My hope and dream was to be self-sufficient at this point but that just didn't happen for whatever reasons (about a million and one). So.... I have stashed enough food away for us and any kids that will show up when things get really bad. One has landed back in the nest all ready. I also noticed the prices creepin' up so for those who can, better get in some supplies before that bag of sugar costs $10.00. Boy oh boy,,,,, I sure do wish I still had my house from years ago..... dang dang and double dang! I ; am almost afraid to vote..... either way seems disastrous. The Libertarians and other party candidates don't have a chance of a snowball in sw florida so voting form any of them seems senseless. What is the answer??? The Elder Bush talked of a One World Order....he mentioned it many times during his presidency...... looks like that's where we're headed. If things are going to be as bad as some think (depression era bad)..... maybe those with kids would want to buy some clothes for next year at this year's prices?? From what I've been reading,,,,, this debacle began back in the Carter administration; carried forward and has been laid at our feet. We must get through this without going insane. I know we can help each other in some ways.. Personally, I would like to know that those people at the top end of this disaster, the crooks who manipulated books and made millions..... are held accountable. paulette in sw fla usa..... I've been praying but I don't think God is listening xoxoxoxoxo On Tue, Sep 30, 2008 at 1:36 AM, Stella Roper <busmar1852@webtv.net> wrote: > Well...girls and guys, it seems the hard times we thought wascomng, was > dumped in our laps.If you have any mutual funds, or money market money > that you wlll need in the next ten years..you best draw it out. Dear Stella, Thanks for your concern. I think you are right. We are ok at this point as are most of my close kin. Nobody knows what will happen next. Even those of us who thought we were well covered can't be sure of anything. Both sides of my family hsd great losses back in the last depression, property, money in the bank, businesses, etc. We lived on property where lots of food was grown. That helped get us and others through some of the bad times. My father had a small restaurant and always had soup and cornbread on hand whether one was able to pay or not. Farmers in the area donated produce for cooking and feeding many who wandered through town. It was a small town and no jobs other than on the farns. He never let anyone go away hungry. He did have to close it up after awhile, just couldn''t keep it going.Too many in need.
