I plan to stay right here for the rest of my days. There are some cold days due but nothing like you and others on the list will have. We have gas heat and a gas log fireplace. It doesn't give out much heat but is a comforting glow to make the living/dining area cosy. I have lived with wood and coal stoves and wood burning fireplaces. They all have their place. I prefer the wood burning stoves and fireplaces but they don't allow them here anymore. Our last house had the fireplace but we could only have the gas log one here. Have a nice Birthday.
