Thanks for understanding Carol...I think that is why I like the lot, on the river that my daughter just bought a couple months ago. remember the daughter whose husband died from a malignant tumor. He had same thing Ted Kennedy had, Larry;s was in his sinus. They had loved to fish, and she kept his truck, the boat and all and now found a place just 12 miles down I-59, toward Meridian, on the Black Warrior.A man bought out an old fishing camp...went in, put three gravelled roads to it...and surveyed it off in lots to sell.He took a bull dozer back hoe, etc and cleared out all the cabins, had people move the trailers...and he is putting a tall metal fence up...will have coded locks to get in. She knew him, and got first choice. So...now she is building a pier out in the water by her boat launch...18 by 22 with a four sided tin roof...and four ceiling fans under the roof...And a four ft wide gangplank, or walk out to it. There was a tree in the edge of the water so he made the gang plank...out around the tree and on down close to ground and only needs one step to go onto it...It is real nice. She is building a large deck on the front of her lot that has a tall bank over looking the grassy part...boat launch, pier and all.It is cemented into the bank...with railings and big steps with railings to go down to another deck landing at the bottom. Then it is flat...wide enough for trucks to drive down, from her gravelled road sloping down the right side of the lot. No cars will be on the exact lot...she plans to build a house next year after all this is paid for.She is having it wired today. It already had a pole with power. She is putting all her switches on the deck...so she can turn on flood lights at the pier from there. but, , I go down there...and hear all kinds of birds, watch a crane on the lake (back water from the river) and it is so nice. She is not on the river...so the only waves on her water will be the neighbors coming in (other 11 who bought lots. They all have a boat launch of their own. It is very peaceful now, nobody is living there.I took my little terrier````, and a box of cold drinks and sat down there for hours Sunday, just communing with nature. We are gonna put a big pot of flowers on each side of the deck this weekend, and the man who graded off where an old house had been, also sewed grass and scattered hay all on it...she said it was up good today, after all the rains. The only thing I worry about...is storms or tornados. There are houses up on the road that this comes off of...I said I would be going to somebodies house!!! I wanted my daughter to build a retaining, reinforced wall out of blocks...and then make a cement room...with a thick reinforced top..that could have been her walk out on deck...with steps down...and a heavy door on the side...she could have stored her chairs, and boating gear..in...but she wanted this wooden deck.it is her money...so I didn't say anymore...but years from now if she keeps it...I may be gone but I think she will find that wooden decks, steps and all tend to weaken, get shaky, , rot and loosen up on the water like that. She hired a company crew that builds docks to put the poles etc in the water for the pier. That costs thousands now.But it has given her some happiness that she hasn't had lately. Will tell ya'll anything new about it. Stella
