    2. Oh yeah....folks from all over eat dandelion greens...more back in Ma Kettles day than in ours, Smoochie.....Immigrant city folks used to take the trolley to the end of the line and harvest baskets full of dandelions...& ate them raw in a type of salad, cooked, made dandelion wine, etc....Gotta remember by Spring folks were hungry for fresh greens, and dandelions are ready to eat before garden truck...plus they are free...which surely appealed to the poor folks....You can even boil the roots and eat that as a veggie, or dry them and make coffee...Oh yeah...that old weed used to be respected...Now days folks just cuss them when they sprout in their yards.....Wild garlic too...A friend of mine was quite amazed one Spring when two men came and asked if they could dig the wild garlic from his yard......One man's feast.......Jeannie T ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ On Tue, 19 Aug 2008 17:08:44 -0400 "Smoochie Newton" <smoochieangelpie@gmail.com> writes: Does anyone still eat DandyLion greens??? 3. thanks for the info jeanneT. Now I know I'm not entirely crazy. We also picked wild asparagus which grew in the ditches..... it was yummmmm-eeeee. One thing I recall was the cherries...... the cherries I remember pickin' didn't look anything like the cherries in the stores nowadays. My cherries were red but not dark red and they were sweeter. They just tasted different. Haven't tasted a cherry like those since we moved from southern Ill. wah wah wah..... paulette in sw fla usa where people eat the insides of palm trees.... BLAK!!
