Been through Cairo many times...driving or on the train.....Sounds like Kay row.... Speaking of prisoners of war reminds me of how proud some folks are...I wrote an article on how my Great Grandfather & his two brothers rode out of Fort Donelson at Dover, TN with Nathan Bedford Forrest when the Fort surrendered...I mean I took the family information fed me by my 100 plus year old aunt and her nephew and made a wonderful story out of it....The I made the mistake of looking up these glorious relatives of mine on the Microfilm? dealie at the library and found out the three of them were captured when Donelson went down and sent to Camp Douglas, Illinois:....They were exchanged for Yankees and sent way South..where one died and two deserted......I was astounded......to say the least....When questioned, the family know it all/historian said some other soldiers stole their names.....all 3 of them ? Something to do with a blockade on the Mississippi River, me thinks. It's all so very sad. Mt. Vernon, where I come from, is not that far from Kay-row (as all usn's from the southern portion of the U.S. would pronounce it..... it's Kay-row like the corn syrup). paulette in sw fla usa......
