Stelllllllllla..... I did not think of the word "extraditing" - you're probably right. At first I thought "ex" was short for Execution until I saw Elsberry was still alive in 1870...whew! I didn't realize there was even such a thing as a "home guard" but apparently the home guard had infantry and cavalry etc. just like the regular military. I wonder if every man was required to be in the military..... questions questions and more questions and more research.
