;HEY STELLA!!! I'm not sure what went on in Cairo....it's at the southern tip of Illinois on the Mississippi river. Elsberry was in the Missouri Home Guard which were the fellas that protected the home areas. Since he was a Prisoner of War, that would mean he was captured by the other guys (Union) and hauled off to Cairo for "Ex"...whatever "ex" is. I thought maybe someone on here had done enough research to know some of the lingo..... surely not me. I'll check further, see what I can find.
