Many without families, many missing a limb or two, some blind and deaf and other injuries. I have had reason to visit some of these places, to see friends and family members. A sad state of affairs in many of them. The  ones that suffer the most are those with no friends or family to chek on them and are wholly dependent on the meager services the government allows them. My friend was in a four bed room when I went to see him. One bed was empty. He said the man had died and they had yelled and rung for  help. It was over 24 hours before they had removed the body. The hospitals are always understaffed and the ones they have can do just so much. Underpaid and overworked. I have  veterans of the many wars  in my family history, way, way back. They are buried in Virginia, Maryland,North Carolina, south Carolina and Georgia, maybe some other places. It is good to think of the dead but it is most important to remember the living and their needs.
