hmmmm..... I used steel wood / sos pad on my cRusted cast iron skillets. washed first with hot soapy water then went to town with the steel wool. I've soaked screwdrivers in vinegar then scoured with sos pads....... how's that sound? c.cakes is right,,,,, jeannie t. would probably know. I've never used a grill but my older son does all the time. He grills his vegetables on there plus his meat.
