    3. I realize there wasn't much you could do. However, would there have been any way you could have told the parents about what this child was doing & how it made her feel? That's so young to start in with something like that & it breaks my heart to think of a 5 yr old sniffing markers & saying that the smell made her feel good. That's one reason that children get into things at such an early age nowadays. That's one reason why I have second thoughts about young children being given marijuana for medicinal reasons. We have neighbors several streets north of us & they are always out gathering marijuana. They claim that they are gathering it for folks who need it. However, they both are heavy smokers & I have gotten so I won't go over to their home b/c their place always has so much smoke inside of it. I used to have a friend who I worked with..who had a son who claimed that marijuana was better for him than cigarettes. Mike had taken up smoking marijuana & claimed that he would live to be older & would be more healthy than his friends who smoked cigarettes. Marijuana may not injure your lungs like cigarettes do..but I do feel it's a catalyst which can get a person involved into different drugs. When I was teaching, I had many conferences with parents over things which their children did. Many times I would observe certain actions & would advise the parents of these actions. There was one little boy, when I was teaching 3rd grade, who was constantly going to the rest room & was always drinking so much water. I suspected diabetes & was glad that I talk to Jim's Mother about him b/c she took him to the doctor & he was diagnosed with diabetes. I can only hope that I was able to catch this problem before it became worse for this little boy. I still find it 'interesting' that his parents never noticed his behavior. ~J ----- Original Message ----- From: "jkaywojack" <jkaywojack@aol.com> To: <southern-chat@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, October 11, 2010 6:32 PM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] Flu shots > Talking about sniffing ??? 3. I didn't let her continue the sniffing if I saw her, took markers away. Also talked to her parents about it. 3. Glad you specified that, Paula!! When we came home tonight we had a skunk in back of our house again. I was surprised that Paul smelled it before I did. My first thought was that our dogs were lose in the house & they could come & go out of their doggy door. At least they hadn't picked up on the skunk & were just as good as could be when we got in the house. They both got sprayed in the face some time ago. Poor Cricket was really hurting...I felt sorry for her. Now that's an instance where she shouldn't have smelled something!!! 3. That's good. That's too young to get hooked on something like that. I can remember eating that white paste in school..but I don't remember getting any type of high from it. Actually, I don't think it did anything to me. All the other kids were doing it..so why not??? ~J ----- Original Message ----- From: "jkaywojack" <jkaywojack@aol.com> To: <southern-chat@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 12, 2010 9:42 AM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] Flu shots >I didn't let her continue the sniffing if I saw her, took markers away. >Also talked to her parents about it. > Kay > > > > In a message dated 10/11/10 21:32:05 Central Daylight Time, > AZJen@npgcable.com writes: > I realize there wasn't much you could do.
