If you don't use oil in baking what do you use? Don't tell me you use lard. I cooked with olive oil for a while. The taste is a little different but you get used to it. An Italian restaurant in town has oilive oil and spices (I think garlic bits) for your appetizer to dip your bread in. I'm not crazy about that but when I go there, I do dip my bread into the oil/spices. Olive oil is a little strong, but a small amount of butter cuts the strong olive oil flavor. Adding herbs and spices, especially garlic makes it reaaalllly good. But I agree, nothing is better that veggies seasoned with bacon grease. With all the cholesterol problems, not many people choose to use animal fat for seasoning any more.
