To: southern-chat@rootsweb.com Date: Monday, September 6, 2010, 12:12 PM Took a little trip to a mall in Sarasota. Just wanted to take a gander at what's going on around these parts. Anyhoo..... we're walking, talking, and sippin' java when I spy an "eyebrow salon". Yip. Just eyebrows - nothing else. They have a fancy sign in the winder and a video playing that shows various way a person can get their eyebrow hairs yanked out. Apparently these days, eyebrows are so important they can be shaped in different "patterns". There are even stencils!! Eyebrow stencils!! What?? Ok,,,For the "base price" of $50.00 (that's ten, twenty, thirty, fourty, FIFTY) some young made-up and costumed (think halloween) chikkie will take string, whip it around each tiny little eyebrow hair and twist it out of your head! I'm not kiddin' neither - and neither are they! Of course if you want a "pattern" the cost is more. I thought up my own cheap and painless way to shape up my brow hairs. I took some peanut butter and very carefully put it on the hairs I didn't want anymo! re. Then I got all comfy and called over Goober the bichon. didn't take him two seconds to gnaw off those peanut butter covered hairs!! Unfortunately, Goober didn't care if the hairs were covered with peanut butter or not....he just went to town on all of 'em..... I now have bald brows! paula in sw fla usa.......maybe I can start a new craze?? xoxoxo ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to SOUTHERN-CHAT-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
*Paula* I used to go to a place where I bought my make-up & the woman would remove my extra eyebrows with a machine. It did hurt though b/c each time she would pull a hair out I would nearly jump out of her chair!! I started having Fran do it to me when I was in Junior High. Fran is now 90+ years old. Of course, I don't live in IL any more..so even if someone at her place did do this, I couldn't get it done. I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't had my eyebrows done in years. They are not as bad as that star who has/had heavy brows & they nearly grew into one another. However, they have gotten a bit out of hand. I really need to pluck them..but just cannot see them well enough to do them. Your poor cat!! Like Ladonna, I hope that he doesn't get a hair ball. Have never heard of a place who did nothing but eyebrows. That's totally wild!! I know that the gal who used to do my hair years ago would put hot wax on people's eyebrows & the extra hair on their upper lips & would remove it that way. I always figured that had to hurt quite a bit. Hope you had a nice Labor Day. Very boring here. ~Jen in AZ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ladonna Pipkin" <fromtheghetto@rocketmail.com> To: <southern-chat@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, September 06, 2010 8:09 PM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] what I done??? > PAULA > That would blow my food budget for the month since i only allow $50.00. > Sure hope goober don't get a hairball. > luv ya > ladonna > > --- On Mon, 9/6/10, *paula* hello from Florida <freckletoes@comcast.net> > wrote: > > > From: *paula* hello from Florida <freckletoes@comcast.net> > Subject: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] what I done??? > To: southern-chat@rootsweb.com > Date: Monday, September 6, 2010, 12:12 PM > > > Took a little trip to a mall in Sarasota.
