Jeannie T., Our neighbor boy back in IL, raised pumpkins one year. He had a very large pumpkin & was so very proud of that particular pumpkin. Then the day before Halloween, he went out to pick the pumpkin & someone had stolen it. Bob was only in 6th grade & I can remember that kid crying his eyes out. I was really angry to think that anyone would do that to Bob. I'm sure it was a neighbor kid b/c he knew right where the "big" pumpkin was...Bob had it hid. Nowadays, the kids like to take pumpkins & throw them out on the streets & sidewalks...guess they like to make a mess of things. Would love to get my hands on one of those kids...grrrrrr When hubby gets done with the housework at Paula's place..send him out here. I cannot do anything...and I do mean ANYTHING!! My hubby cooked our Thanksgiving dinner himself & has been taking care of the house. Today he has been putting a railing on my ramp in the garage so I can get in & out. The Physical Therapist who came yesterday wanted to know if I were going up & down steps & ALSO, had I done any steps yet?? He said I should be walking with a cane now & I can just get around with a walker. Don't think we are going to agree on a lot of things. After he left, I told my hubby that it would be a cold day in 'you know what' that I would be using a cane & going downstairs!!!!! ~Jen in AZ ~Jen in AZ ----- Original Message ----- From: <askgranny@juno.com> To: <southern-chat@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, November 18, 2010 10:51 AM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] Normal > Grrr ! Mike hasn't been doing all that well on the housework....cobwebs,dirt,sticky floors don't bother him at all. *Paula* I'm sorry, but I didn't realize that you were having any problems. I hope you are back to normal a/s/a/p. Nope, my PT, Tony Martinez, doesn't seem to have much compassion. I guess they have to be that way in order to do their job? He was the most pleased when he realized that I could keep my knee straight & I was able to bend it at a 90 degree angle. Today I didn't do much exercising. Paul, my hubby, spent most of the day in the garage putting a handrail on my ramp...it goes from our landing all the way around our garage to the garage door. I'm lucky in that we have an extra large garage..b/c we are able to put both vehicles inside the garage even with a full size ramp which runs half way around the garage. We still have at least one more meal of turkey & all the extras that Paul put together. I have shown him how to do things throughout the years. However, he's pretty handy when it comes to cooking & I doubt if I would have had to tell him too much. When he was little, he used to tell his Mother he would stay home & clean the house & cook the meals if she wouldn't make him go to school. I guess he did that quite a few times. You would like Paul, *Paula*. He's a neat freak & puts me to shame. He's always washing down our slate floors. Vacuuming our carpeting & dusting wherever it needs to be done. My computer room is the worse in the house b/c he seldom puts a foot in here & I am not one to worry about dust. I have a number of stuffed animals which he has gotten me out of machines in the past year...you know, the kind that you put 50 cents in & then can grab for what is inside the big plastic box? I should take all those "buddies" down & dust them & make them look better. When we lived in the Valley, he won so many stuffed animals that we filled up 3- 33 gallon bags & took them over for "Toys for Tots" at a local store at Christmas time. The people couldn't believe that we had donated so much. Then of course, we have the angel trees...I have been in charge of getting things for children on those tags & have often wondered if the items ever reached the child. One year I was given $200 by a group I belonged to & Paul & I went out & bought mostly clothes & a few toys. When we brought them back to the bank, I asked them if I couldn't mark them with the child's name..or even take them back home & wrap them. Nope!! They said they would take care of everything. I have often wondered if little Rachael ever got those clothes & toys. Hope you are feeling 'unperky' unlike a turkey in no time!!!!!!
