I sure wouldn't want to raise kids now. Saw on the news where some junior high (pretty sure...it was not high schoolers) kids were texting (or "sexting") a nekkid picture one of the girls had sent to one of the boys. These kids are about 12 years old for corn sakes!! I was a very mature 12 year old out of necessity but even at that,,, I wouldn't have thought in a million years to show my bare nekkidness to any body. If someone would have asked me, likely I would have wondered what the hey-ell was wrong with them. I'm just mortified..... good luck and prayers to all who are dealing with youngers at the moment.... xoxoxo *paulette* formerly known as *paula* BECAUSE there is another paula on the only other list I am on and I don't want to have any corn-fusion so from now on y'all will see my birthname of *paulette* ... ~~~* ) ----- "jkaywojack" <[email protected]> wrote: | More power to you, I'm sure you'll do a great job. *Paulette* What you said doesn't really shock me because I guess I could expect that of that age. I spent 3 yrs working in a Junior High & some of those kids can really blow you mind with some of the things which they pull. Nowadays the kids seem to get involved in things which we never would have done at that age. However, I doubt if either you or I or other people in our age category have all the diversions that the kids do today. I did things which took imagination...I didn't just sit in front of a TV or a computer or video games like some kids do today. Plus, if I were not home, I can guarantee you that I was out doing something that definitely wouldn't get me in trouble like the kids do nowadays. I have to agree with Belle that kids today have mixed values & standards. My husband & I were never fortunate enough to have children; however, I did notice how other people raised their children & I can tell you that I wouldn't have let my children do the things that they let their children do. The worst thing I can remember some of us doing was calling someone out of the phone book (you couldn't know them) & ask them if their refrigerator was running. If they said yes, then you told them they better hurry up & run down the block & catch it before it got away. That was our way of being silly..and that's as far as it went. ~Jen in AZ ----- Original Message ----- From: "*paula*" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, February 06, 2010 1:10 PM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] [HS] Good old days.. >I sure wouldn't want to raise kids now.
