    2. Miss Belle , your grandson sounds so talented.I have a grandaughter that is simalarly talented, artistic.I always thought she would go in that directon. For a long time it seemed, she just wasted her talent on frivolous things. She finally started doing hair designs .Not exactly what I had in mind but her hair designs are doing well for her and she is always busy. Sent: Feb 5, 2010 10:46 PM My 9 year old son was quite an artist. We lived in Long Beach, California in 1957. There was a TV program hosted by Tom Hatten a professional cartoonist . Kids loved the program. One evening, Tom Hatten called and said hehad picked James cartoon as the 'winner' for the week , could I bring James to the Studio in Hollywood the next week, gave me directions, time, etc. Seems James had sent his drawing in without telling me. well, I got the day off and he was excused from school. All went well except he got tickled when they asked him to draw something on the board set up for him. He was a 'plump'nine yearold and his tummy under his striped Tshirt was very obvious. After the show they loaded my station with all kinds of stuff, candy, games, books, etc. The next morning I took him to school and his classmates were waiting for him. We gave a lot of the things away, there was so much. He still draws but spends time writing poetry, has had some published .
