Dear Stella and all. I'm glad you liked my posts. I never kept many notes but I made lots of pictures. My memory has been pretty good up to now. Of course there are many things I would like to forget. 1978 we ordered a 35 ft. Kountry Aire 5th wheel and it done with all the extras, stack washer/dryer, air condioner, heater, etc. We bought a 3/4 ton XLT Ford pickup to pull it. We each took a month off from work and headed east from Orange Co. California. We went the Northen route to Ohio, down through Kentucy to North Carolina into Georgia where most of my family were living. We stopped many places along the way. We got on the bridge at the arch in St. Louis but couldn't get across because a cement mixer truck had an accident on the bridge. With help of the police and some other travelers we were 'backed' off the bridge and sent on another route.Got to Ohio, spent a couple of days with kin. All their neighbors made a tour of the 5th wheel. Got down to Hazard, Ky. and had a problem with the hitch. The man who fixed it was also a SHEPHERD, he refused payment, said he might be a cousin. We went on down into North Georgia, visited some of my kin. Everyone liked the 5th wheel. I was able to pick up some items I had stored at my dad;s. My antique maple bed and my grandmother'strunk. My aunt in North Georgia had given me two bushels of those great mountain apples. We had given some along the way but still had a lot left. We soon headed back to California. One rainy night we had parked in Van Horn, Texas with lots of apples. We gave some to the folks in the next space. Itold the lady that we would be going through the inspection station at Barstow and they would take my apples. She said no, we could avoid that by peeling and slicing the apples, putting them in lemon water in plastic containers and bags. Well, we worked a long time, she and husband helping. Guess what? When we got to Barstow, the Inspection Station was CLOSED!!!!!!!!!
