Before it even got cold a patch of daffodils out back were about 5 inches tall ! These warm days we're having...50's, etc...might just corn-fuse them even more . Usually we have Spring flowers blooming about the 3rd week in Feb..., and can start planting English peas, etc. in the garden...I'm ready already ! Hubby stayed outside quite awhile yesterday and said he was pulling up privet hedge bushes and planting them in the 'someday woods' between us and the neighbors...I had put some rose canes in a glass of water for him to set out in our 'rooting kettle' out back and one was growing a brave clump of leaves! We have an old cracked up black kettle on the N side of our house and anything we stick in there just about grows roots... Jeannie T., It sounds as though you are having the kind of weather that we used to have back in IL. I planted a number of snow flowers under some of our pines in front of our house & those along with the crocuses..were always the first things to come up. I can remember how "exciting" it was when we first got our days of spring. We really don't have much changes out here in AZ. We have plenty of flowers but for some reason, they all seem to come up at the same time. My dh husband has been out watering them throughout the winter so we would have some flowers come spring & summer. I usually pick them out..wanted them to bloom all spring & summer & for the most part they do. Hope they will look pretty when people come to look at our house when we put it on the market. That kettle sounds as though it has a bit of "magic" in it. At least you know where to put things to grow roots. I used to do a lot of that..but not that much any more. ~J in AZ ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, January 18, 2010 9:41 PM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] SPRING!!! > Before it even got cold a patch of daffodils out back were about 5 inches > tall !
