Nope...Getting old aint for sissies....and sometimes I wonder if I'm not just a little bit sissy! Heres hoping Buzz has an easier life than your nephew and his sisters....Buzz eventually did believe there wasn't a monster in the closet and was very sorry Papa had to work so hard to repair the heat duct...Thank God theres a maintenance man in the house! He was in there awhile ago working on the bathroom sink...happened to remember we had read that 3 Rolaids and a cup of white vinegar would unstop a sink. Well, it's fizzing away, and heres hoping by morning it will be cleared out. Well, let's hope & pray that Buzz doesn't turn out that way either. I have often wondered how my s-i-l has put up with all that she has for all these years. I guess with her, it's her kin, so she figures that she is obligated to take care of the kids. My husband has always said that if he had become a parent, he knew one thing for sure..he wouldn't leave his kids with relatives b/c he might end up liking it & let's face it, just so long with a kid that isn't yours, gets rather old after awhile. I said that about getting old b/c it seems like for the last 10 yrs, I have done nothing but see doctors & then end up in hospitals. I see my orthopedic surgeon tomorrow & I have to admit, I'm not looking forward to it. I just went through 2 weeks of extreme pain. The only person who could see me was his PA, b/c my orthopedic surgeon was on vacation. I asked for pain pills & he refused to give me any b/c he had given me a cortisone shot. I'm sure he got tired of hearing from either my husband or myself b/c I was in so much pain. He finally sent me to our local hospital for a MRI on my knee. Turned out that I have a fractured knee cap. I think he felt rather foolish b/c the gal who is in charge of the office called my husband & asked if I would like to see the orthopedic surgeon when he got back from his vacation on Monday. Now I just hope he will return when he says he will. About a year ago I had broken my ankle & he was suppose to be back, but he never returned. I ended up going to another orthopedic surgeon here in town. She is no longer here in town. I have heard that she had a lot of lawsuits against her. Guess I was lucky when I went to her that she didn't mess my ankle up. ~J ----- Original Message ----- From: <askgranny@juno.com> To: <southern-chat@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, October 17, 2010 9:48 PM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] Buzz is in trouble ! > Nope...Getting old aint for sissies....and sometimes I wonder if I'm not > just a little bit sissy! If he was like Buzz, slamming a truck door into a car door might have been nothing more than to hear the odd sound it made......only when it was pointed out did he understand the damage he had done...Our heat pump has a silver 'box' in the linen closet...Well, Buzz heard it making a noise and decided it was a monster, and kicked the heck out of it. When Papa got mad and worked a long time fixing it back, Buzz cried and insisted on sitting in the hall the entire time Papa was working on it...He wanted so badly to help fix it. Papa DID let him help a little and didn't throw a fit like he would have done with OUR son or John when he was that age.. Poor Buzz's Mom took so much strong medicine when she first got PG it's a wonder he can function at all. The boy has loose screws where most folks don't even have screws ! He's actually no relation to us, but you'd have a hard time convincing him of that...Heck, I can't even convince him chickens are birds...YES they lay eggs, yes, they have feathers, etc. etc. etc...BUT they are a different color from the baby chickens he saw at the Co Op....Jeannie T ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ . Oh, they can kick you off the bus here in TN...When we had Buzz living here he got kicked off a few times...after a certain amount of times that's it for the year! Now, to say this fazed Buzz is to lead you astray...He was happy as a clam for us to drive him the 5 miles to school and then pick him up later..."Hey, lets go this way Granny...My bus don't go this way ! " etc. Apparently he would stand up in the seat, lay down with his head hanging off in the floor, lean over the back of his seat, lean over the seat in front of him..Etc. He was a very busy boy! I put in for the special bus to come get him and finally they set it up before anything dire happened....No problem...getting put in a car seat type deal with straps didn't faze him..I just told him it was special bus because he was a special boy and needed a seat belt like Grannies car had. AND it came right to the door so Papa didn't have to walk/drive him up to the corner, 1/4 mile away. Where he lives now, they don't have special buses, but just put a kids car seat in there for him and Sissie strapped him in every day. Cool...Clever of them . Well this year , he decided he could be a good boy and not ride in the car seat..Apparently not for too long !*grin*....I think Mommie dearest is going to start strapping him in again...Sissie won't do it for some reason known only to her. His school is quite a distance from home, so they don't want to drive him.... I used to watch his sibs sleep when they were here and Mommy was God knows where , and pray that they would grow..grow...grow...so they could at least fix themselves a snack, and call me if necessary..Well, those suckers grew, and grew and grew !And now they can call me on their cell phones and both can cook a little...Now if Buzz will only get big enough to get by.....I'm in the process of doing what I can to get him some relief ....Jeannie T ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On Sat, 16 Oct 2010 22:38:02 -0700 "Jen LaBonte" <AZJen@npgcable.com> writes: > Jeannie T., Can they kick him off the bus? LOL, Jeannie T., You sound like you 'might' have another Danny on your hands. God help you if you do. I'm sure he was remorseful after he kicked the heck out of the heat pump, but he has to realize the consequences of what he does before he does it. Most likely all the drugs that his Mother was on when she was PG didn't help him one bit. I know Danny's Mother pulled the same stunt. She got caught by her parents twice in their house & she was escorted out the door. She moved into Chicago & her parents came to check on the children. My s-i-l said it was pitiful..it was winter & they had no heat in their place. Everyone was running around with no socks or shoes on. All Sue had was a pot of beans on the stove..that wouldn't have been so bad, except for the fact that the beans had sat there so long that they had mold on them. Those kids left that place that night with their Grandparents. They had planned on retiring in N.C. & when that time came, Sue had never come to check on her children so they took the kids with them. The two girls have families..but no husbands. I guess Danny, once he was let out of prison, he moved in with some girl. I'm sure it doesn't please their grandparents..but there is just so much they can do for them. Grandpa always loves the girl's babies when they bring them over. However, when they need to be changed or disciplined, then that's Rose's job. I feel sorry for Rose b/c she has always worked so hard & this does not seem to be any kind of decent retirement for her. She fell last year & broke her leg & it has never healed. The doctor had to make up some sort of a brace so that she could walk b/c she couldn't bend her knee. She has very bad tremors & can do just so much. My husband started having them soon after we were married. His are not as bad as his sisters. No one seems to know what causes them. Getting old isn't for sissies, that's for sure!! <g> ~J ----- Original Message ----- From: <askgranny@juno.com> To: <southern-chat@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, October 17, 2010 12:33 AM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] Buzz is in trouble ! > If he was like Buzz, slamming a truck door into a car door might have > been nothing more than to hear the odd sound it made......only when it > was pointed out did he understand the damage he had done...Our heat pump > has a silver 'box' in the linen closet...Well, Buzz heard it making a > noise and decided it was a monster, and kicked the heck out of it. Buzz is about to get kicked off the bus....Miss Charlotte is the most understanding of bus drivers, but Buzz is no longer staying in his seat and is talking to her too much for her to concentrate on her driving. She thinks he's just the sweetest little old thing, but her ears are plumb wore out I guess....Young John is off to college and hardly ever home, Sissie is a High School Senior this year with all the activities that requires, and old Buzz has gotta talk to SOMEBODY! Knowing teachers the way I do I bet he can't even hardly talk at school.....Yep, Pore old Buzz is in a fix! .....Jeannie T ____________________________________________________________ Moms Asked to Return to School Grant Funding May Be Available to Those That Qualify. http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3141/4cba87b19c99b31bbem06duc
Oh boy!! Buzz is one busy boy!! My Nephew was always rather hyper. Sometimes you had to come right out & tell him to shut up. He seemed to understand blunt language more than people trying to be nice to him. He did end up in prison for a while though. He really isn't my Nephew...my husband's oldest sister took her daughter's children to live with them when their daughter got high on dope all the time. I guess Danny tried to steal their car & also got into their bank account. The refused to give him any leeway b/c he had pulled so many other stunts. I do know that he talked a lot though. We brought him home from WI with us once. Our dog had been attacked by a neighbor dog up there & Danny insisted on sitting in the back seat with Pepper. I warned him that Pepper was hurting a great deal & he shouldn't fool around with her. If he did, I was sure she would take after him. I kept turning around & looking at him & he kept telling me that he wasn't doing anything bad. He also climbed on my antique love seat when we had a lot of company one year. He was only around 5 yrs old & I walked out of the kitchen & here was Danny jumping up & down on my love seat. I yelled at him to get off of the love seat & boy did he move fast. He did end up breaking the springs in the seat & I have never gotten it fixed. I also had candy sitting on dishes around the room & I found his finger prints all over my walls afterwards..that along with the sweet potatoes. He was at another relative's place in northern, IL (Harvard ) & Chuck & Peg came out in the garage & here was Danny slamming Chuck's truck door into their good car. I'm thinking that his Grandmother & Grandfather paid to have Peg & Chuck's car repaired. Just those few things should have forewarned people what to expect of this child as he got older. It's a shame that he spent the time that he did in prison..but it didn't seem to bother him one way or another. We "think" we know who the father was & if it's who we think it was...he was a complete idiot. ~J ----- Original Message ----- From: <askgranny@juno.com> To: <southern-chat@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, October 16, 2010 11:24 PM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] Buzz is in trouble ! > Oh, they can kick you off the bus here in TN...When we had Buzz living > here he got kicked off a few times...after a certain amount of times > that's it for the year! Jeannie T., Can they kick him off the bus? If he is signed up to ride the bus from his home to a school, I would think they would have to keep him on there unless they had a good enough reason to kick him off. I don't know, b/c I don't know all the rules that the children are suppose to follow while on the school bus. I have a friend who used to drive a school bus & I will write to her & ask what they can do. If Buzz cannot ride the bus to school then how will he get there? I understand...he's lonely & just needs to talk to someone. I had a Nephew that was like that. He meant well, but just needed to talk. I know he didn't get enough attention..but I wasn't in a spot to say how I felt. Good luck with Buzz!! Thanks, Anna Marie, Glad you liked my story, this one is from my present home. For many years I have had a small scissors in my sewing/work box. Always at hand. One day they were missing, we looked everywhere, under cushions, furniture, everything. This went on for a couple of months. Then one morning as I was getting out of bed I saw the scissors on the carpet between my bed and recliner, bright and shiny, an area that was walked on daily, vacumned twice a week. Where had they been??? Had something borrowed them and decided to return them? I will never know. Had the opportunity to see my sister's dollar coin collection. All her coins have "In God We Trust" written on the face of the coin as well as around the circumference. Was someone just telling about these? I can't remember five minutes ago so HELP!! xoxoxo p.
If these are the coins that I think you are talking about. I was told they had "In God we Trust" on the outside/rim of the coins. Paul had some, I told him this & he checked them out with an jeweler's eye glass & he said it didn't say that on them. ~J ----- Original Message ----- From: "*paula*" <freckletoes@comcast.net> To: <southern-chat@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, October 14, 2010 11:27 AM Subject: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] dollar coins > Had the opportunity to see my sister's dollar coin collection. Hey, Lee, you old devil.....have a happy birthday and eats lots and lots of cake....maybe top it off with a sip of shine..... xoxoxo p. ssage
The cheese sauce is heated and served on the aide with the salsa. The salsa can be mixed into the cheese and put on the baked cornbread. It is good either way. Enjoy! Too bad it wasn't the real Antiques Road Show. Gold is really going up in price. Where will it end, or will it one day collapse? Kay In a message dated 10/13/10 22:03:03 Central Daylight Time, AZJen@npgcable.com writes: Kay, I just wanted to go by the place & see what was going on. Turned out, they just called it a "Road Show". I was expecting to see people standing in line waiting to talk to people to find out how much their item was worth. We had to go all the way around the building & then there was no place to park. My knee has really been hurting me today & by the time I got up the stairs & into the building, my knee was really hurting. I asked one person where this group had come from? (The group was supposedly appraising items & buying them.) As it turned out no one really knew what was going on. >From what we could tell, the main thing that they were in was silver & gold. I have quite a bit of gold..but Paul wants me to keep it. We had already sold quite a bit of it before the price went up as high as it is right now. I figure I will wait until the prices settles back down. I think I told you that I had read where if you sold something worth over $600, you had to file a form with the government & pay taxes on it. Doesn't look like we can do too much without telling our government about all our moves. When we first moved up here, Paul bought a used vehicle & then wanted a newer one. We had quite a bit of silver & gold & he sold it all so he could buy a new car. I didn't argue with him b/c he really deserved a new car. I had my own car & I ceratinly couldn't begrudge him getting his own vehicle. I seldom drive mine..and he had been talking about selling my car. I'd just as soon keep both vehicles for the time being. Actually, I like his car better than I like mine. On well, only time will tell as far as what we plan on doing with it. ~J ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jen LaBonte" <AZJen@npgcable.com> To: <southern-chat@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 13, 2010 10:19 AM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] Emma & Paula, P.S./flu shot > One can never tell.
