Several years ago, I had some cherry tomato plants in amongst my roses. There was a field behind me and the kids had a path that they walked all the time. One time I saw some boys eye my tomato plants. I went outside and told them, if they wanted some tomatoes, to ask me and a I would let them pick some to eat, but not to throw at each other. I let them take a handful each. LAter, they did come assk me if they could have some and I told them yes. I'm sure I averted losing a lot of tomatoes by talking to them. Buzz's Mama told him not to run in her house....actually she told him MANY times...So he runs when he's at Son's house...Last night Sissy was on Buzz 'watch', but she and her visiting girlfriend left him to his own devices , went outside to take pictures ...John was doing his college homework, and son had retired to the bathroom with a book...He knows Sissie is on duty, so relaxes. Buzz is having a blast...running through the house with 2 cats bounding after him, trying to catch the cat teasing toy he's using to tantalize them...About the 20th trip Son hears a big 'thunk ' and Buzz began to bellow...He learned to cry from watching cartoon characters so he's going "Wah ! Wahhhhh ! Wahhhhhhh ! John opens his nearby door to see what's going on and suddenly Buzz says " I'm bleeeeding !' Now , you could rip the kids arm off and he'd maybe flinch, but show him a drop of blood and it's panic time...John is absolutely no help...Saying " OH MY GOD ! He's bleeding really bad ! Etc.." He grabs Buzz up and heads for son's room...meanwhile son has exited the bathroom and is yelling " STOP !" to John...who's in full panic mode...air turning blue as he fails to find Son...Runs next door to Mommie's ...HAMMERS on the door and she comes to the door..wearing her birthday suit...Musta been getting ready to shower... Sissie joins the parade and starts berating Step dad, who's just told Buzz to 'Shut the f--- up , you're not hurt " Apparently not seeing the shirt drenched with blood , and the bloody head wound...Mommy and Sissy continue to berate step dad , { He thought the cuss words John was saying as he tried to get help for Buzz were directed at him , and takes exception to it .} John berates Sissy for not watching Buzz and Son finally catches up with the victim and takes him away..Applying pressure to the cut , he has the blood stopped in about a minute, an ice bag wrapped in towels on the cut, and Buzz attached to a forbidden computer game....Five minutes later he's no longer in pain, head slathered with antibiotic cream , no longer bleeding and the Buzz -gotta- bump war is winding down...Blue air slowly drifting away into the nearby woods.....I'd a bought a ticket...Jeannie T ____________________________________________________________ Go Back to School Grant Funding May Be Available to Those Who Qualify http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3141/4cdf7b6823d2b23059m06duc
Didn't y'all get the article I wrote about Buzz crashing into the wall ? Maybe that's why theres so little 'traffic' on the computer these days.... We had to scare Buzz from going into the woods because he wanted to go it alone even when he was a tiny child....Teachers at school had to tell me all about him trying to go in the woods..So we came up with the mean coyote/wolf stories so he would only go in the woods when he had an adult with him. We watched him one time...He walked straight into the woods...fell over a branch...picked himself up and headed off in the direction he was facing when he stood up....2 black bears were spotted in the woods near Paris, where he lives now...One was killed but the other one disappeared...don't know where it went. A rare case, but then every other kind of critter is sometimes seen in woods....For instance, neighbors there had 2 Great Dane dogs that roamed loose.....WE live about a mile as the crow flies from a DEEP River...so...we scared him. He pays more attention if you tell him something that makes sense to him...'Don't do it' doesn't work... Say, didn't you have surgery ? How's it going ? Yes, it's getting that way for me Jeannie T., I have more titanium in my body than most machines have. I have been concerned about going through scanners in airports, but I have been told not to worry about it. Now I guess the TSA are really going all out..you can have a scan, which some fruitcake in the back room can look at you as though you have no clothes on..or you can be patted down. I thought you would be patted down only by someone of your own sex, but I have been told that isn't necessarily the case. :-( Oh well, I'm not going to worry about it, b/c we are not going any where for some time b/c we don't have the money to fly in the first place. ;-) ~J ----- Original Message ----- From: <askgranny@juno.com> To: <southern-chat@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, November 14, 2010 11:09 AM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] Patch, patch, patch.... > I haven't had knee surgery, but I HAVE had stress tests, and they're no > fun..One was physical, years ago, but when they do them on me now they > are chemically induced. LOL!! Jeannie T., That sounds better than the shows which we used to go to the matinees on Saturday at the local theater to watch! You are really a funny lady. Have some friends who live in Paris, TN. They used to live near Jackson or Clarksville. Any way, sometimes you have to make sense to some children like you have done with Buzz. Otherwise, they are very strong willed & will do just about anything they want to. In regards to Buzz running into a wall, I'm afraid I never heard that story. Surgery isn't until 11/16/10. My husband was diagnosed with a blood disease..along with maybe problems with his heart. It seemed like all this happened at one time. He will see the hematologist the same day that I have my surgery & the next day he will have his stress test. Fortunately, he will see the doctor & have the test up here where we live..actually, the hematologist is in the same building where he went for all his radiation treatments for his prostate cancer. Then he will have his stress test will be in the hospital where I am. Please say a prayer for him. I am very concerned about him. Thanks so much! ~J ----- Original Message ----- From: <askgranny@juno.com> To: <southern-chat@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, November 14, 2010 10:36 AM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] Buzz is so wise... > Didn't y'all get the article I wrote about Buzz crashing into the wall ? > Maybe that's why theres so little 'traffic' on the computer these > days.... > > We had to scare Buzz from going into the woods because he wanted to go it > alone even when he was a tiny child....Teachers at school had to tell me > all about him trying to go in the woods..So we came up with the mean > coyote/wolf stories so he would only go in the woods when he had an adult > with him. Jeannie T., Sounds as though Buzz is 'busy' again. How in the world did he hurt his head? He ran into to a wall?? Hope he's okay..although he sounded like he was when you talked to him on the phone. It sounded as though his Daddy might have been a tad disgusted with him though. Yes, animals do mark their spot like papa told him. Sounds as though he remembers things pretty well. They have been having a number of coyotes in IL & rather than call correct authorities about them...the kids talk about them & are very afraid of them. We have them out here in AZ. However, they seldom will attack unless they are rabid. As long as you respect them, they will respect you. If we see one out here, we make sure that we keep our distance from them. We had a lynx come down our road when we lived in the Valley. At first I thought it was a coyote..but the closer it got, I realized it wasn't. My husband & a friend were painting our house & they couldn't believe what they were seeing. I guess it's very unusual to have a lynx in that area. ~Jen in AZ ----- Original Message ----- From: <askgranny@juno.com> To: <SOUTHERN-CHAT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 13, 2010 11:41 AM Subject: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] Buzz is so wise... > > When Buzz was just a youngen he was afraid of the coyotes lurking in the > woods that kept him from going down there alone...{ Granny's rule .} One > day he and Papa were walking down there and he had to go potty...No way ! > Finally he was forced to and Papa cheered him up by telling him he had > marked his territory now, and no coyotes would come in our woods...Today > I talked to him on the phone and he told me he had peed in the edge of > the woods and now no coyotes would come in the yard...Oddly enough, on a > recent nature show a man peed on the legs of their raised platform hoping > to keep tigers or some other big critters from bothering them while they > slept...Go figure. > > I asked Buzz if his head wound was doing ok and he said he ran into the > wall and a real BIG drop of blood came out. When Buzz was just a youngen he was afraid of the coyotes lurking in the woods that kept him from going down there alone...{ Granny's rule .} One day he and Papa were walking down there and he had to go potty...No way ! Finally he was forced to and Papa cheered him up by telling him he had marked his territory now, and no coyotes would come in our woods...Today I talked to him on the phone and he told me he had peed in the edge of the woods and now no coyotes would come in the yard...Oddly enough, on a recent nature show a man peed on the legs of their raised platform hoping to keep tigers or some other big critters from bothering them while they slept...Go figure. I asked Buzz if his head wound was doing ok and he said he ran into the wall and a real BIG drop of blood came out. I said I heard John said a few cuss words and he said "He DID ! He said the 'H' word ...[big pause]...and he said 'shit '...I was tempted to ask him what else John said but I was afraid Mommie would hear him and wash his mouth out with soap...Buzz has completely recovered from his accident other than a wound...John however is still somewhat traumatized....Jeannie T ____________________________________________________________ Get Free Email with Video Mail & Video Chat! http://www.juno.com/freeemail?refcd=JUTAGOUT1FREM0210
Sissie joins the parade and starts berating Step dad, who's just told Buzz to 'Shut the f--- up , you're not hurt " Apparently not seeing the shirt drenched with blood , and the bloody head wound...Mommy and Sissy continue to berate step dad , { He thought the cuss words John was saying as he tried to get help for Buzz were directed at him , and takes exception to it .} John berates Sissy for not watching Buzz and Son finally catches up with the victim and takes him away..Applying pressure to the cut , he has the blood stopped in about a minute, an ice bag wrapped in towels on the cut, and Buzz attached to a forbidden computer game....Five minutes later he's no longer in pain, head slathered with antibiotic cream , no longer bleeding and the Buzz -gotta- bump war is winding down...Blue air slowly drifting away into the nearby woods.....I'd a bought a ticket...Jeannie T ____________________________________________________________ Moms Asked to Return to School Grant Funding May Be Available to Those That Qualify. http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3141/4cdb928b350fe1ba7cm06duc
Jen, thank goodness for your quick reaction with Paul. Both of you take care of yourselves. If you are really close to somewhere, say like Clarksville, TN..then maybe that's what you could put in for the name of the website. You do have to belong to Yahoo in order to use the website though..at least I'm pretty sure about that. Thanks for the wishes on my knee surgery. Paul & I went to the doctor this afternoon & he's now taking his nebulizer treatments..(like I suggested in the first place). I had been out for most of the night, so he just watched TV. When I got home, he had made himself a hot cup of AZ Green Tea & all of a sudden he started to cough & gag & I really didn't know what to do, so I pushed him as over as far as I could & really slapped him hard on the back. He finally...after quite some time, stopped coughing. I was on the verge of calling 911, when he finally stopped. He said that the tea had gone down the wrong way & he had never had anything that bad happen to him before. He was turning red & I was frantic. He did say if I hadn't slapped him on the back like I did, he might not be around any more. Well, I did what I could...there is no way I could have done that maneuver on him b/c he's quite large. I thank God for helping me to know what to do b/c I have never been in such a spot before. Afterwards, he wanted me to sit in the room with him b/c I think that he was afraid that something would happen again. That is not normal for my husband. ~J ----- Original Message ----- From: <askgranny@juno.com> To: <southern-chat@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, November 08, 2010 9:36 PM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] Bubble wrap ? > Thank you for the info on FreeCycle...and for the warning about dealing > with those people...GOOD LUCK on your knee surgery , and hope Paul is all > better by now ...Jeannie T > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ > On Sun, 7 Nov 2010 23:44:28 -0800 "Jen LaBonte" <AZJen@npgcable.com> > writes: >> Jeannie T.
