KA pow ! Buzz and I had such a good time before he got confiscated tonight..We 'roasted' chestnuts in the microwave...Well, it was more fun for Buzz than it was for me...I had to clean the oven every time one of the buggers exploded! That's way more fun to Buzz than seeing the chestnuts go into a mad dance , ricocheting around the oven like a ball on steroids....While I cleaned the oven he would run in the living room and tell Papa how scared I was when it blew...laughing so much he could hardly talk...I didn't particularly LIKE wiping out the shattered chestnuts , but LOVED the sound of that poor beleaguered kid laughing so much. Oh yes, I took him by the barber and let him pick out his own haircut from a book and now he looks like somebody loves him....He can work on that rock star image later...Jeannie T ____________________________________________________________ Moms Asked to Return to School Grant Funding May Be Available to Those That Qualify. http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3141/4cf1f5d4f31ff41acdm06duc
Jen... sure hope you're getting along. Some therapists tend to push it way to much...after all they aren't the ones in pain and agony! Mike hasn't been doing all that well on the housework....cobwebs,dirt,sticky floors don't bother him at all. Say what ? SPEAK UP! I can hardly hear you.......Today was Adventure Day, and since pickings were kinda thin I ended our foray in Adventure by taking him to a McDonalds with an indoor playhouse. After he told me what he wanted to eat he asked if he could go play and I said yes....I think he took his shoes off on the fly...Got over there with the food and started looking around the crowded room for a table to collapse at..he motions me over and says "I reserved this table for us...Come on Granny..." Granny, being no fool { Well, not a complete fool ..} had never set right NEXT to the playhouse...After folding our coats to make a sort of cushion on the rock hard pew I realized the noise level could be compared to a jumbo jet taking off...or maybe a Rock band using extra amps......I hated to drag the poor kid off since he gets so little pleasure in life, so sat there and enjoyed the antics of a young Father and his twin daughters who appeared to be about a year and a half old...Judging completely by their actions..in size they were probably miniature at best...The idjit took them to the van one at a time and secured them ! Even I could have easily carried both of the tiny munch kins...Coulda lost both of them ! I didn't realize what was happening till it was too late to meddle... Buzz finally flitted by to sample his juice and I told him if he wanted to ride his bike we had to leave...NOW ! I'm sure I'll recover in a few days of peace and quiet since Mommy dearest snatched Buzz away from us tonight. Mumbled something about getting him back in his usual routine { rut ? } before school on Monday when she called...Son said they just wanted an excuse to eat at a fancy restaurant over here.... Hubby planned to take him to the woods tomorrow and down where the Springs come out from under the ridge and meanders out across the fields...Sigh...Maybe Christmas...Unless he tells her we let him set up later than 8 o'clock....Jeannie T ____________________________________________________________ Moms Asked to Return to School Grant Funding May Be Available to Those That Qualify. http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3141/4cf1f4a37814741ac8m06duc
I foolishly bought Buzz a small plastic pistol that shot darts at several little targets....Never occurred that he would shoot ol Granny in the shoulder ! Young John grabbed him and gave him a LONG lecture on not aiming even a TOY gun at someone...He confiscated the gun and was on the way to put it up when he shot himself in the foot. Buzz may not remember the safety lecture but will surely remember seeing John hopping around while we laughed...Just wait'll Christmas when the little demon gets that pump up BB gun that is powerful enough to kill small critters ! No talking to his parents...we tried. I'm gonna get a suit of armor....Jeannie T ____________________________________________________________ Moms Asked to Return to School Grant Funding May Be Available to Those That Qualify. http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3141/4cf1f3723850241ab5m06duc
Glad your fingers are still working ! Had been wondering how you were doing after the surgery...but wish you could do everything the therapist thinks you should. Does he know of your other health problems and past bones breaking, etc ? I think you really have to experience things yourself to know just exactly how it feels....Frighteningly enough, I'm now experiencing some of the things I scoffed at ...so to speak..in other people through the years...Lord a mercy, I hope I'm not gonna get all that I deserve ! *Paula* I'm sorry, but I didn't realize that you were having any problems. I hope you are back to normal a/s/a/p. Nope, my PT, Tony Martinez, doesn't seem to have much compassion. I guess they have to be that way in order to do their job? He was the most pleased when he realized that I could keep my knee straight & I was able to bend it at a 90 degree angle. Today I didn't do much exercising. Paul, my hubby, spent most of the day in the garage putting a handrail on my ramp...it goes from our landing all the way around our garage to the garage door. I'm lucky in that we have an extra large garage..b/c we are able to put both vehicles inside the garage even with a full size ramp which runs half way around the garage. We still have at least one more meal of turkey & all the extras that Paul put together. I have shown him how to do things throughout the years. However, he's pretty handy when it comes to cooking & I doubt if I would have had to tell him too much. When he was little, he used to tell his Mother he would stay home & clean the house & cook the meals if she wouldn't make him go to school. I guess he did that quite a few times. You would like Paul, *Paula*. He's a neat freak & puts me to shame. He's always washing down our slate floors. Vacuuming our carpeting & dusting wherever it needs to be done. My computer room is the worse in the house b/c he seldom puts a foot in here & I am not one to worry about dust. I have a number of stuffed animals which he has gotten me out of machines in the past year...you know, the kind that you put 50 cents in & then can grab for what is inside the big plastic box? I should take all those "buddies" down & dust them & make them look better. When we lived in the Valley, he won so many stuffed animals that we filled up 3- 33 gallon bags & took them over for "Toys for Tots" at a local store at Christmas time. The people couldn't believe that we had donated so much. Then of course, we have the angel trees...I have been in charge of getting things for children on those tags & have often wondered if the items ever reached the child. One year I was given $200 by a group I belonged to & Paul & I went out & bought mostly clothes & a few toys. When we brought them back to the bank, I asked them if I couldn't mark them with the child's name..or even take them back home & wrap them. Nope!! They said they would take care of everything. I have often wondered if little Rachael ever got those clothes & toys. Hope you are feeling 'unperky' unlike a turkey in no time!!!!!! Buzz insisted on turning Papa's new computer on today...then had to turn it off when I didn't know the password....Later on, after Papa got up from his ' siesta' they went in there and he assured him he could boot it up if he knew his password...I halfway paid attention as I cooked supper. I heard Papa say 'Can you put in the password if I tell you what it is ? " Buzz confidently said ' One letter at a time" and Papa spelled it out for him. In a minute I heard him say " I'm IN! " Didn't have whatever game he wanted so...Papa asked could he shut it down and he did. Seven year old boys just aint the same as when we were growing up . Our family had their 'Turkey day ' early because of plans the teenagers had made to pig out at assorted grandparent and date's grandparents...We had all the stuff you're supposed to , except the pies were apple and cherry cobbler..per requests...Made from scratch, of course. They picked up Peter, the apparently female kitten, and left Ol Buzz...Well, we think it's Buzz...whomever it is has enough hair to stuff a mattress, but has decided to follow in the footsteps of his Step dad and get wild and wooly on top. I quietly suggested a trip to the 'haircut place'...a former have to case on Adventure day, but Nooooo....Apparently when Buzz grows up he's going to become a 'ROCK STARRR' and he will need that hair...Demonstrated by much head twirling and flying hair....till he got dizzy and fell over . Hmnnnn...Gotta work on that one ..... Dragging out a Monopoly game merited a bit of a scold , but he insisted he wanted to play...between bike rides and rain showers. He once had a Jr Monopoly game we used to kill time with...moves made across the board diagonally, little respect to regular rules , etc. When he agreed this time it was grown up rules or nothing I reluctantly sat down to play with him. DON"T EVER PLAY MONOPOLY WITH THAT KID! No rules on the battered old box , so I just divvied up the money roughly...thinking I would soon be free to read a fascinating book while he watched cartoons or terrorized the street... I saw a pattern that disturbed me...I would draw a 'chance' card and get fleeced, Buzz would draw a 'chance ' card and be sent to 'Go' and collect his $200.00 or some such... As the day drizzled itself away we sat there grimly rattling dice.......This little rat who has the attention span of a fruit fly played on and on....Given the chore of 'deeds keeper' helped him with his reading,, as did trying to puzzle out the chance cards, adding the dice marks, too...and certainly counting the money he was getting from me in rent...Of course he ended up with hotels on Park Place and Boardwalk....{Two thousand dollars, Grannee !} and bought MY two railroads when I ran out of money...COMPLETELY! I was down to zero when I got the bright idea to sell him some deeds....and now I have a few hundreds in the kitty...Seven year old Buzz has THOUSANDS, plus a healthy portfolio of deeds, 4 hotels and buying more....The bank is almost completely busted, and I dread the grim end of the game tomorrow...Had to call a halt today when a favorite cartoon movie came on and he found out we don't have the VCR hooked up to tape it. I know where one stop on 'Adventure day' is going to be...the Lottery ticket store! He can pick 'em, I'll scratch 'em and we'll split the proceeds...Lord knows he needs the money...wants every toy he sees on the TV commercials...Jeannie T ____________________________________________________________ Moms Asked to Return to School Grant Funding May Be Available to Those That Qualify. http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3141/4cef6a4f402803ed68m06duc

Hey Jt.... some people get "light" case of shingles but let me tell you this pain was/is unbearable. Closest I can think of related pain is labor pains. Over the counter absolutely wouldn't work - I tried at first then when I was sitting here sobbing from the pain I had prescriptions filled. Rash is spotty on left arm and almost gone but my arms feels like it's been smashed with sledge hammer. If you find home remedies, let me know - I am up for just about anything. hubby is jabberin' at me now because I am forcing myself to stay awake....guess he can see my head wobble. will go for now because I don't want to get conked.....back later....xoxoxo p. ----- Original Message ----- From: askgranny@juno.com To: SOUTHERN-CHAT-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, November 21, 2010 1:59:19 PM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] husbands/hearing/and grrrrrr Ole !
