    2. Oh my Gosh ! I made chili yesterday, and had it for lunch and supper tonight....I'm glad you warned me about possible repercussions...will have to stay home for a few days....let hubby eat the rest of the chili....HE eats beans all the time...matter of fact he daringly cooked a crock pot full of beans and smoked ham hocks to take to a Masonic meal tonight..Installing a member or something...He was so proud of himself you'd think he had cooked a gourmet meal....They pride themselves on having good country type meals with banana pudding, all sorts of good food.. The wives do the work , of course...Everything had to be just right. That IS a big deal for the former Beanie Weenie king....Jeannie T ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On Thu, 24 Feb 2011 13:49:58 +0000 (UTC) *paula* <freckletoes@comcast.net> writes: > It's been a bit crazy around here, more than normal crazy. 3. hey Jen..and all....next time you make up a batch of chili add cayenne pepper and pepper flakes and extra chili powder ....woooo-eeeee! I've been making extra everything and putting into freezer jars or just in the fridge so I have plenty of good hot chili for future use. On Tuesdays, there is a different lady bringing my breakfast to me. Although I fill out a slip as to what I want (and I ALWAYS put down 2 cups of coffee, I usually just get one cup from her. I had some left over coffee that I heated and with enough milk poured in it was drinkable. The news is saying we could have two inches of snow tomorrow evening. Jen, attachment (jpeg) didn't come through on the list...isn't it odd...a virus can go through, but we can't send attachments. SO>..I didn't get to see your beautiful yard. (sorry, we mostly say 'yards' in Alabama, not many called a 'garden' unless it contains editables.) I did try to do a sectioned off 'English ' garden once, that was a lot of fun (and expense). I had to go to Lab at 7:30 this am...and because I couldn't eat or drink...I woke up at four! So this old woman is ready for a nap. Today..I might prune a rosebush! It is already 74! Bye....Stella

    2. I feel for you, my friend....and I think relaxing in front of the computer after a hard day of packing might be wise...I'll certainly pray you safe....while realizing all the time I need to do the very same thing myself..not to sell my house, to get more usable space....I also wish you good luck on that foot...I think our feet get round on the bottom as we age...else why do my sister and I stagger a bit at times ? *grin* ...Jeannie T ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On Mon, 21 Feb 2011 21:57:45 -0800 "Jen LaBonte" <AZJen@npgcable.com> writes: > I will probably be away from the computer in the next few weeks b/c > I have > to get this place ready to sell. > > I fell last week & have been waiting to get into the orthopedic > surgeon to > x-ray my foot. ____________________________________________________________ Weight Watchers&#174 Official Site. 2. Theres a Blaze rosebush out by my clotheslines that was there when we moved in 25 years ago...Down at the base it's got 'wood' like a tree, but only ever has one or two stalks on it. They're amazingly tough buggers...Jeannie T ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On Mon, 21 Feb 2011 17:04:24 -0800 Emma Roses <roses4831@msn.com> writes: > > When I had my mobile home in Salem, I bought two Blaze climbing rose bushes. .Emma > ____________________________________________________________ Weight Watchers&#174 Official Site. 3. Love the blaze rose plants. We had some fences behind a rose garden in the middle of our back yard & we blaze roses climbed all over the place. The garden had tiers on it..and on the top tier were moss roses...always lots of color. I do miss that at times. ----- Original Message ----- From: <askgranny@juno.com> To: <southern-chat@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, February 21, 2011 10:02 PM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] Spring Flowers > Theres a Blaze rosebush out by my clotheslines that was there when we > moved in 25 years ago...Down at the base it's got 'wood' like a tree, but > only ever has one or two stalks on it. 3. My husband has done all the planting on our property up here in Payson. He put in a fountain & waterfall in the front & then I picked out a bunch of flowers which would grow well in the back yard. So far, we have been successful in my decisions. I will probably be away from the computer in the next few weeks b/c I have to get this place ready to sell. I fell last week & have been waiting to get into the orthopedic surgeon to x-ray my foot. Of course, it had to be the same foot as my knee which I had replaced (the right one). I hope everyone enjoys their plantings & such. We still have snow on the ground up here. We had someone come in & clean up our yard late in the fall. Our next door neighbors had left for Phoenix & they have so many plants & trees in their yard. We always get all their leaves & blossoms which blow over here. So, I hope everyone on the list has a good spring. I'll be back before you know it. I just have so much to do & I simply cannot let it go any longer. Just the thought of getting the taxes done along with everything else is overwhelming! BTW, I'm not blacklisting anyone...and if I do receive any e-mails, I will try to get to them when I can. It just won't be right away, that's all. ~Jen in Payson, AZ ----- Original Message ----- From: <askgranny@juno.com> To: <southern-chat@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, February 20, 2011 11:00 PM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] You can't take it with you... > Sounds like your parents surely did have a pretty homeplace !We've > planted everything on this property except a pear tree, an Abelia hedge > and a forsythia bush..oh yes, a Blaze rose out back.....The place we > owned before this was a case for the landlay...The woman asked for 1 > month to move so we rented an apartment...During this month not only did > Earline dig up all the plants and move them but she took the rocks from > the flower bed and I don't know what all ! 3. When I had my mobile home in Salem, I bought two Blaze climbing rose bushes. I planted them in front of my small deck, wanting them to climb up and completely fill in across my deck.l Well, they both climbed up and went across the front of my deck, but, one had all of the flowers, no leaves hardly, the other was lush with pretty leaves but hardly any flowers. I did everything I knew to encourage them to be pretty but they just wouldn't cooperate. Finally I cut them down and dug them out.Emma > To: southern-chat@rootsweb.com > Date: Mon, 21 Feb 2011 16:08:39 -0600 > From: askgranny@juno.com > Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] Spring Flowers > > I bought two rosebushes today...and hope for the best....The top growth > is entirely different so hope it doesn't turn out like the last time I > bought cheap roses...All of them are the same color!
