We sure do need the prayers around here Carol. I'm just on a couple of lists now so it isn't so bad. I tried the Digest mode on HomeSpun but it was such a mess... the messages were repeated over and over again. Had a hard time getting unsubbed though. I enjoy sitting here and reading all the messages but that was a little too much for me. I don't know why I'm staying up so late tonight... I usually go to bed and watch TV for awhile and finally drift off to sleep about 2 am. My 12 lb. gray cat is lying on my lap right now... he sure is warm!! :o) He sleeps at my feet every night... when I let him... sometime I just keep pushing against him till he gets tired of it and goes somewhere else to sleep... Think I'll call it a night... talk to all of you tomorrow... Night... Good seeing you on here too Lee. I wish I knew how to play a guitar! I bought a cheap one on eBay one time... I think it's out in the shop behind the house. Might just get it out and strum away sometime ...may be able to come up with some sort of tune. That is... when I'm not chasing tillers all over the yard... Is it warm enough where you are to plant a garden? I haven't put out any tomatoes yet. A friend gave me some teenie tiny plants that need to be put in small pots so I might do that tomorrow... Hey LaDonna and Carol and all... I've got to tell you about the situation I got myself into Saturday when I was out tilling the garden. That little garden is about 30' x 25'... anyway... I was going down one of the rows with that TroyBilt Tiller and got to the end. I raised up on it to turn it around and that rascal took off, just flying across the yard toward my chain link fence. Just jumped right out of my hands... I had to run to keep up with it and then had a time trying to turn it off or slow it down!! I'll bet that was a sight for sore eyes!!!! That old 74½ year old woman chasing a tiller across the yard. I'll tell you what... when I caught that thing my heart was beating a hundred times a minute, I do believe! I didn't know that machine could go so fast! Scared me to death... I had to go and sit down with a glass of tea and wait to calm down before I went back and finished. Got that place planted though. I can tell you this, I'm getting too old for all that excitement... Now all I have to do is pray for rain and wait and watch... Hey...I am glad none of you were injured by the tillers.I can't do work like that now...with my back...I am getting worse all the time. It is not just chronic pain...it has just about quit working...I used to have big gardens and canned and froze a lot but now I( just make fig preserves now, because a friend has a tree) I sure hope to find fresh produce anf hope I can afford it. I heard that the rice growers in the USA had gone to corn (to sell for gas research) and we had a rice shortage coming up... have stopped buying anything imported so I am putting China Doll in my freezer. I love rice and I would hate not to find it. Trouble now...since I moved to this apartment I only have my fridge. I am thinking I will go buy a small freezer and put it in my bedoom. lol...Stella
My nephew was using our Troybilt and it hit a rock and headed for the fence ! When it went under it caused a shock to my nephew, when the spark plug touched the wire or something...He looked up towards the house to see if the old grouch was watching and we quickly got everything back in place...Yes , those little jewels will really travel if they hit a rock...On the commercial they must be tilling in top soil ! Hubby will no longer use our 'Pony' because he says it's no good..He wants to till very deeply the first time across the ground, and of course doesn't listen when I try to tell him what the book says..>Won't even get it out of the shed...and I'm certainly not able to use it in our rocky soil...A friend got one of those little 20 lb. tillers and she loved it...said if you hit a rock it would just stop , not jump and run ! Nah, this is as far South as I'll ever get...I still live up here on this ridge overlooking the beautiful Cumberland River...just South of Clarksville, TN.....It's way yonder too purty to leave...dogwoods, lilacs, bridal wreath, apple trees , yellow rose of Texas, Russian olive....all sorts of beautiful blooming things....and the grass is as green as poison....an old country expression..Guess it is referring to Paris green which folks used to sift onto their tater bugs and such back in the days before we knew so much..Arsenic, I believe......and I remember seeing folks sifting it onto their gardens...They would tie it up in a rag and go along the row shaking it onto the plants...Jeannie T ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ On Wed, 23 Apr 2008 03:10:25 GMT "lcbjr2@juno.com" <lcbjr2@juno.com> writes: > > Hi all, sure good hearing y'all on here again , i was thinking > Jeannie T moved on South . For someone that's not truly a southern gal, please tell me what a ramp is. Is it an onion? I have a funny story about eating hot sauce. I love McIlhenny's tabasco sauce. I saw some other kind that said it was hot so I bought it instead. Wrong idea. It's not very hot. It has more of a smoky taste to it. Then I saw one that said Jalapeno hot saucce, really hot. So, I thought I would try that one. Another wrong idea. It's not as hot as it implies it is. As soon as I use them up, I'm going back to my good ole Tabasco sauce.
