Them trials may build character but some are just arse kickers and I'm just pulling out of sum arse kickers. Its time to get vertical & make spirits from last years left over frozen fruit. If you have a oven cleaner cycle on your stove throw them skillets in & they will come out spit shined. LaDonna ================== JEREMIAH 33:3

fire, heat removes rust! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Linda Rogers" <lindahazenrogers@yahoo.com> To: <southern-chat@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, May 22, 2008 3:27 PM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] Saving on electricity and food Stella , Jeannie is the one you want to talk too abt. stuff like that, she's the expert . Linda the challenged homemaker ----- Original Message ---- From: Stella Roper <busmar1852@webtv.net> To: southern-chat@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, May 22, 2008 6:48:10 AM Subject: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] Saving on electricity and food GOOD morning, all, I wanted to ask all of you for any suggestions you might have, that I don't have, on removing rust that is not really bad...it's just from dampness in the storage room out in the yard where I stored it. I am referring to an iron cooking pot...or whatever you call it...we used to call it a fish fryer. It sits on short legs, is oval shaped...has a fat belly for coals, with the damper openings where you can close for heat etc...just like the old stoves had...To cook with, I have the iron grill that fits the top, also have the flat griddle iron top that makes good pancakes, and I used to put foods wrapped in foil...or is good for a warmer as the coals die down...I also have the deep cooker , it fits the whole top also and is iron, about three inches deep. We used to fry wonderful fish on the creek banks. this cooker has a long bail...so you can pick it up and carry it...(but this booger' is heavy!) Now...do any of you have one, or know what they look like, I may not be doing such a good job, in describing it)? My husband got it from an old fleamarket back about 1980.As I said...I want to clean it up...just in case I decide to use charcoal instead of my stove, this summer to save on utilities, and since I lve in an apartment...it is easier to store...we can't leave things outside here much.. It is covered with rust now but it is not pitted...just covered. Pans and all. Please advise. I have two sizes of wire brushes, and I started to go get t that jelly...remover stuff...but wondered about using it on eating utensils? I also started to build a good hot fire (I even bought the charcoal) and see if the heat would burn it off. What do yo think? Maybe some of you guys have removed rust safely? Thanks a bunch.
