    2. Belle Shepherd
    3. Storage space is also our problem. I have two large plastic storage containers under my double bed, extra shoes, purses, etc. I should get them picked up by goodwill but just haven't done it Most of the shoes are almost new, only worn once or twice, bought before I had my fall. I would like to give them to someone I know but so far they don't wear the same size.8 1/2 narrow mostly summer sandals (SAS brand).Different colors. Our pantry is jammed as well as the two refrigerats with freezers. Shelves in the garage are pretty full, could really use another room on the house or a triple garage instead of the double we have. My kids were down from Colorado a couple of weeks ago and I gave them a few things however, they don't have any extra space, either. I don't shop anymore so I don't keep up with prices. The only way to get them down is refusing to buy them. Of course, they are adding the high transportation costs to everything. 3. J.t...... I was thinking about the pressure canner after I sent off the email...... and how did all those women can in the olden days without a pressure canner!!! Well,,,,, you surely did answer my question. I should have remembered my own gramma that had a wood stove too......she canned plenty and kept everything in the "root cellar" (scarey place!!). I have an electric stove (ack) which I just can't get used to using even after 10 years. As long as I can get the water to boil and stay boiling for the length of time everything should be ok. 3. I agree with you Stella... the trunk of my car gets too hot and some of the cans might burst. Then, it's gonna get COLD before much longer and they might freeze and burst. There's lots of room under a bed and if you cut a box about 1/3 of the way up you can put like things in rows and slide the box under the bed and that way when you pull it out you can see what's in there. If you have a double bed you can put boxes back to back from both sides of the bed. I need to get busy getting more canned "stuff" too. I try to keep about a half a case of chicken noodle and cream of chicken soup on hand all the time, Campbell's of course. 2. Stella Roper
    3. Emma...I have toured the cheese making place at Tillamook, OR....I actualy packed bags of curds to bring home on the plane! Thats what I drool over when I think of it. The fresh cut cheeses will cause your taste buds to pop up and sing, Boy oh Boy...what a trip that was. I was in Oregon exact time you drove through here going to Georgia...you were within two miles of my house, on I-59 and I was visiting in Lincoln City. Best trip of my life! I was tempted to buy a house that I saw for sale there...but thought of that long plane trip...from one coast to another...and all my kids and grandkids in Alabama.I knew I couldn't pay the phone bill every month and not to see them, often, changed my mind. But I sure loved every thing I saw in OR. We picked the big lucious berries from near her house, and made Jelly while we were there. I made a large "Southern"cobbler, the first for her German Chef husband! She said she made biscuits every day to eat with that wonderful red jelly.! So I cried half the trip back. . P.S. Sam's still has the two pound Kraft Chedder, gone from 5. 44 to 5.99, I think.

    3. stella....what a great story..... I do know about the big roll of balognie and RC.... I used to drink lots of RC. There are still some cheeses with that thick red cover but, wow, it's expensive. I don't remember ever seeing one of the thing-a-ma-jiggies that you told about. Speaking of cheese - at the local store Sat. I noticed the price of cheese has sky-rocketed... $9.00/lb !!! It is somewhat cheaper at WallyWorld but not enough cheaper for me to buy any. The girl in the deli told me balognie is the big seller.....not so many people buying the pricey deli meat these days. paulette in sw fla usa...... where have all the ma/pa stores gone.....I miss them xoxoxoxo -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: busmar1852@webtv.net (Stella Roper) > Paulette...the old grocery stores got cheese shaped in a large "round > wheel" called a hoop of cheese. 2. You put all that butter and stuff in the oatmeal before you crumble the crackers on top.. I love crackers , anyway...If I eat any type of bread with a meal it's usually crackers...Just don't ever think to eat bread with meals...sometimes hubby will ask for a slice if we have special bread....Now, we'd eat cornbread or biscuits with every meal, but......Jeannie T ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On Mon, 06 Oct 2008 20:11:36 +0000 smoochieangelpie@comcast.net (Smoochie Newton) writes: > > One of my very favs...... 3. With all of the talk on here about stocking up, I've started buying extra when I go shopping. I don't have a lot of room in my closet/pantry so I've left the cans in the trunk of the car. Good place for storage.
