Hello...and after this one, ..I am gone for the day... Yep..when you are a REAL football fan, of a team...you are certainly doing more than one thing at a time.So many aspects of the game that you want to see at the same time...and watching all the replays o see if the oficials called it right...biting fingernails at times, standing up yelling at other times,shouting , yelling, waving pom poms...doing the wave with the crowd, eating, and talking, all sorts of stuff..I stay at home alone and jump up and down in the middle of the floor..clap my hands, yell...call someone to say ROLL TIDE when they are winning..Oh Yeah...several things.. . Paulette it's never too late, I became a fan, when I started dating my husband who was a senior at the University of A;..as I had enjoyed highschool sports before that. ...Crimson is the school color, and I will look it up and tell you later but I think they got the name "Tide" from a write up long time ago, maybe after they beat somebody in the Rose Bowl, or somewhere,.a headline that said something like this.'The University of Alabama football team rolled over the ....(whomever it was)...like a Tidal Wave yesterday'.The name stuck...'The Tide" .Paul 'Bear' Bryant (from Texas) was a famous coach here that won back to back national championships.He won the name of the winninist coach in history My son and I attended the game, in Memphis when he won number 315 to put him over....He had to retire due to health, then died in 1980. Gene Stallings (also from Texas A and M) was coach later, who won national championship.Also back in early part of century,Alabama won championships.We get a bowl game every year. We beat the number one team in the nation, Florida, in the superbowl game, ,to win one of those national championships' ). We also have Crimson Tide men's baseball, a basketball team that just about every year has playoffs in tournament, for national championships..also soccer team, women's two ball teams, the basket ball being really a winning team, plus Women's Gymnastics, under coach Sara Patterson that is known nationally.we also have all the teams at UAB...(University of Alabama Campus at Birmingham) too, who are up and coming. So is it too late to pay attention? our son was here for the last three weeks and left for home yesterday (Miami) with me cryin' and snifflin' and snorkin' ...... as you said: I'm too pooped to pop!!! and after three weeks I have much to catch up. I cooked his fav biscuits / gravy yesterday morning.... who would know how much these kids can eat!!! I was amazed at the number of biscuits and then eggs and a pan of gravy and top that off with a biscuit with syrup..... I was happy with one biscuit/gravy!! Hey again...Paulette, did you ever hear the old saying..'Too Pooped to Pop?' well,thats how I felt, by middle of the afternoon yesterday. I am TOO OLD for these weekend parties anymore...but I still say it was wonderful to be with my two boys.. I recieved several phone calls, after they reached their hmes, saying they had 'the best time in a long time' and that all the hospitality and escpecially the food, was great.' I am glad my daughters helped on the hospitality end ...most had to sleep over with them, and had breakfast yesterday , slsewhere than with me. but only because I am in an apartment...not my house.I went over to my daughter's yesterday morning and had coffee with them, and they got back over here at 12.00 to eat before they left out. Hey...Paulette...it's a 'fer piece' up the East Coast to N.Y...then all across the nation to Oregon...lets get Lee and wife to meet us somewhere? We will go from here (Birmingham) Come on...I have left over chili...and other stuff to...I made way too much food, and they wouldn't take any with them, said too crowded.But boy, did they eat!! We got to bed at 2:30 or so this morning. It was wonderful...I think they invited every friend they saw at the game to come by!. I forget the kids have ice boxes of beverages. That's one thing I do not provide. Alcohol in any form. They have all gone now...I am lonely.... I had plenty of time after I wrote the email yesterday, to fix things, clean up all the mess...made dips,and cherry pie for today. (Scott's favorite)......the game was over at 5:30..it took them till 7:30 to walk to thier car,and get home, (normally a fifteen minute drive to the University) there was 93,000. at the game. ROLL TIDE!!! WE ARE NUMBER ONE IN THE NATION 6---0 --so far this year. The A P Poll had us second before yesterday's game...but the SEC has us number one!!1 Hope it holds.Yesterday's win wasn't so pretty, in the second half...our best player was injured,and out. But we won, 24 to 20. I will take a win any way, no matter how close. Alabama has had several national championships in it's history. I hoped some of you saw it on TV...was on CBS yesterday here. hi JeanneT...... hubby has bladder cancer and is now being tested for something in his blood....the bladder cancer has come back a few times, each time a tumor has been removed. He has the spreading type which could go elsewhere with no rhyme or reason. No one would ever suspect since he's a big guy ...... just one of those things. I try to keep him in "greens".... as best I can....and a positive attitude doesn't hurt.
