Thanks for the quick note. You know we are all concerned. I went thru the same thing with my husband, but I was working and couldn't be with him all the time but I was a basket case at work with concern. He was in ICU because he was having to work so hard to breathe they thought he might have a heart attack. Once when I called, I guess he heard the nurse say my name and I heard him yell out in the background "tell her I'm OK". Then I knew he would be OK and quit worrying so much. So, yes a lot of us know exactly what you're going thru. We're all still praying. *Paula* I figured that is what you would do. When I was in our ICU up here, Paul stayed with me night & day. I guess they had told him that I wasn't suppose to live the next day. My lungs really were in bad shape...but even though I went through this several times, I still came through it all. We are praying that those times are over with for good!! I will still continue to pray for you & your hubby...glad he's off the ventilator because that's good news!! ~J in AZ ----- Original Message ----- From: "*paula*" <[email protected]> To: "SOUTHERN CHAT" <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, January 22, 2010 6:30 AM Subject: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] 2nd quick note > Hello all.... just to let y'all know hubby is off the ventilator and is > doing well. Thank you, Paula, for writing.I knew you had to go home, for the babies....but I* can understand your wanting to be at the hospital. I have stayed with Gene several times. Asthma is very frightning..I know. You take care...and you can rest assured...we will all keep praying that he is soon able to be up again. Hoping you have good doctors there. Love Stella

I think that the sun came out for a bit on Wednesday..but other than that, we have had nothing but rain. We really need the rain, so I am complaining..it would be nice, however, if it would come down a bit more slowly so the water could seep into the ground. I guess the Valley is worse off than us...they are having quite a bit of rain down there & this has caused quite a bit of flooding. Now Flagstaff, which is north of us, has really been getting snow & I wouldn't be surprised to get up tomorrow to a lot of snow on our ground. One good thing..snow doesn't stay here for more than 24-48 hrs. The kids really enjoy skiing up there in Flag. In fact, the Northern U of AZ is up there..so the kids are having a really good time right now. Unfortunately, from what I have read, CA has had some bad problems. All that mud out there has to get to people after a while. It's amazing how many people come back & build in areas which "could" fall off into the ocean. I guess they really like it out there...but once I had any idea that my house would be "falling" into the ocean, I think I would be gone & I wouldn't come back. Of course, I don't know what their circumstances are either...so that could have a lot to do with how they handle things. It would seem as though many people are having their fair share of "unusual" weather. Some say that this is a sign of an early spring. Well, let's hope so!! I too have been concerned about Paula. I would say it's a pretty good bet that she's still over at the hospital with her husband. It had to be a pretty bad asthma attack in order for the ambulance to come to their home & then for him to be in ICU. When I was so sick in our ICU up here...Paul was there every day for me. He slept there with me at night & only came home long enough to put the dogs outside. They had told him that when I was first brought in that I wouldn't be alive the next day. He was totally "wiped" out after he spent nearly a week there with me. The day that his brother called him & he didn't know who he was talking to, the staff in the ICU told him to go home & get some sleep. He finally did & that same day they transferred me to a regular room. He has been through so much with me in the past 8-9 yrs. We are praying that perhaps the best is in store for us from now on. I can only hope that Paula comes home to get some rest; however, I'm sure that she prefers to stay there with her husband, so I can understand if she wants to stay there with him. Glad to hear that Gene is feeling better. Bronchitis can really caused problems..no matter how old a person is. That's great that your Grandson got to go back to school. I'm sure he was anxious to get back..especially if he was out for any amount of time. Let's us know if there is any other way that we could make your brother have another "happy" day. I'm sure that many on the list would be happy to do so. Of course, he's wise now to the 'anonymous' people writing to him...but I'm sure he would like to receive a card wishing him a good day? I've been in a nursing home at least twice in the past few years & I know what it's like in there. Belle, I sat down here, one Saturday and tried through every known means to locate all my old neighbors, in Oak Ridge Tn, where I lived the first three years of my marriage, and had two babies there.Only thing I had to go on, was names and some had talked about the state they were from. I had one girl across the street from me, who was about 12 years older, had four kids, and a very unhappy marriage. All she talked about was something he had done to displease her. It seemed to me he was a very hard working, easy going man. Guess she did not love him. She was very pretty and kept herself all 'fixed' at all times. She was the only person I found, because I knew he was from the little town of Oliver Springs...and he had a lot of brothers there...so I asked operator for his name there...got a son of theirs. He told me his Dad had died about twenty years ago with heart attack, and Marge was in a nursing home in a town not too far away...and didn't even know any of them anymore. I cried my eyes out. I still see her perfectly clear, laughing and hugging and kissing on her kids a lot, she had a beautiful singing voice....and she loved country music, and bought all new records.I cannot imagine her any other way. I asked Jerry to talk to her about me...tell her I love her, and remember our trip to Nashville. He said if he got any response, he would call me. I didn't hear. I tried several states in white pages for people that I never found.. The neighbors I had in Selma, where I lived until I came up here...have passed on...one by one...a few of the women left. It is very sad to me. I start to send a card...or call...and remember. I lost my oldest brother two years ago and it seems like yesteray.Stella
This rainy weather is a bummer, up here on the ridge...I had to go get John at the college tonight and was that awful in the rain! Dug out a pair of those yellow tinted glasses kept in the car pocket and that helped a lot. Gonna start praying for LONG days! Just our luck for all those rain storms rolling in from out West when he's starting school... We lived in Bakersfield , CA for a few months and moved back to S ILL in the winter. Officers stopped us and said we had to have chains to go through Albuquerque...turn around, pay money we really didn't have for chains. We started out again after deciding we'd wait till the last minute to put the chains on ...kept driving, driving...didn't realize till we were downtown that THIS was that snowed in city !We were used to Ill. weather, so laughed and kept driving..Still have the chains...still in their box.... Don't rush that Crematory place ... You need to stick around here for a long time !....I got my papers...Thank you very much..but haven't sent them back in..Kinda thinking about calling our prepaid Mortuary and finding out just how we go about getting a refund, so to speak.... Looking through a box of pictures tonight and was surprised at the poor condition of some of the colored ones...If I can only find the negatives, now.,...I had some negatives developed a few years back and the pictures were as clear as they ever were ! Surprised the heck out of me...I had sent off some old black and white neg's years ago and they worked well...My younger sister threw away all HER negatives...glad I saved most of mine... We are clearing out years of stuff in a room for Grandson John to use while he stays here and goes to college 2 days a week...So far few things are being saved for a yard sale....shudder, shudder....He's somewhat of an eating machine, so will get those canned goods taken care of that have been hanging around too long...He likes to cook and is always ready to help me work, so it's a win win situation....Jeannie T ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On Tue, 19 Jan 2010 22:27:29 -0800 "Jen LaBonte" <[email protected]> writes: > I have taken so many pictures in the past & unless I kept them in an album I usually tossed them boxes or I gave them away...and therefore, I don't really have that many pictures any more. Jeannie T. The people who we got our information about the Crematory place..Marvin said he called up & got a refund on whatever they had. Guess they took a trip after that. However, that's Marv & Anne for you. I'm not rushing things...just want my husband to be aware of things in case something should happen to me. I tried to explain to him what he should do & he seems to think that someone will contact him. Like I told him..the only way they are going to know if either of us is gone, is if someone calls them. He then looked at me & asked me what the person left would do? Well, that's a good question & honestly I haven't thought about it & I'm not about to worry about it. What we might do is put it in our will that these are our last wishes & hopefully, if the gals show up who are suppose to get what is left that we have...will notice what our wishes are. Thing is, they are getting older too. I'm beginning to wonder if we shouldn't have put some really young kids in our will. We may out live them!! <g> Heading towards bed-tomorrow I have another epidermal shot for my back, then an appointment & finally a meeting at night. Hope I will be able to get up in time to do everything. ~J in AZ ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, January 20, 2010 9:26 PM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] SPRING!!! > This rainy weather is a bummer, up here on the ridge...I had to go get > John at the college tonight and was that awful in the rain!
