Yello.... I've bought a few of the new LED bulbs and some of the other curley-que bulbs. It seems we're being taken down to 3rd world status ...... as per the plan?? Sounds as if the ultimate goal is for the entire earth to be just one big happy pappy family.....as "someone" said, "citizens of the world". All you have mentioned is just more evidence. None of us may live to see this totally happen but we are for sure seeing the beginnings....maybe even past the beginnings. Something that makes me believe this (even more) is a little speech recently given where this was said (paraphrasing) >>>> the western states originally belonged to the Mexicans (or Mexico). Well,,,you get the idea. Sorry I can't quote it exactly but I did hear it, read it, and see it. Guess we'll all be making candles from government allotted parafin (sp) so we can eat our government issued cheese sammach while we enjoy government sanctioned television/radio. grrrrr snarl boooo hisssss paula in sw fla usa (well USA for now anyway) - can you tell I'm in a snit!!! ffffffttttt! xoxoxo (really.... hugs and smoochies) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Roses" <roses4831@msn.com> To: "southern-chat" <southern-chat@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, September 22, 2010 11:15:09 AM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] New light bulbs- changes coming Come on up to cool Oregon weather. Dear Emma, So glad to hear from you. I have one of those walkers with the seat, brakes, etc. but I use a smaller one with wheels around the house. My poor sense of balance keeps me from depending on a cane. I am really concerned about the unemployed with families to feed and the steady increase in food prices. Wish I could do more but our income is limited as it is with so many folks. I'm always glad to hear from you and your good updates. Oh, yes, Belle. We are busy buying extra things to put away. My husband wants to make up a list & go somewhere like Costco or Sam's Club & really stock up. Thing is, you have to be a member of those clubs & by the time you finish paying for your membership, you have lost all the money that you could have saved. Hope you are feeling well these days. Has your weather cooled down a bit for you? It's getting better here. I couldn't believe our electric bill was $140.00 last month & we never ran our air conditioner...as far as that goes, we never ran it for the entire summer, except once & then we turned it off. When the cold weather gets here, then we have to figure out how to keep warm b/c we don't use our furnace b/c it's too expensive. We have rigged up sheets between the doors in our family room & other rooms. We have cathedral ceilings in our family room & of course, the heat rises..hope this winter will not be a cold one. We need to get our house on the market..but now I hear if we don't sell it before 2012, we will be taxed 3.8% on the sale of our house. Just want Paul to get as many shots for his cancer that he can...his radiation treatments were successful, but he has to have Lupron shots to keep the cancer from coming back. We don't know, but have heard that Medicare may kick in before they said it would (2014). ~J ----- Original Message ----- From: "Belle Shepherd" <belleshep@cox.net> To: <southern-chat@rootsweb.com>; <KYHeritageFolklore@yahoogroups.com>; <homespun@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, September 18, 2010 6:37 PM Subject: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] Economy.. > Keep your money in circulation, buy something extra when you go > shopping. I'd like to thank all you great folks for making Buzz's birthday a happier one, and thanks for the kind comments I got after writing about his party. He's so frail, all that meds he takes for his ADHD and I worry about him a lot. Thanks, Belle, for the reminder. We keep saying we are going to stock up on things..but so far we haven't been able to get out & buy what we need. Paul has been picking up odds & ends. What a grandson you have, Jeannie T.!! So glad that a good time was had by all. That was a pretty nice treat of his Mother. Those restaurants are not too inexpensive. We took my sister-in-law to one some time ago & her only comment was that "she went to these kinds of places all the time." Well, goody too shoes for her!! She didn't pay the bill, that's for sure. That is great that they let Buzz goof around a bit. Sometimes they can be so solemn...at least he caught them at a good time. I bet, however, that Buzz could catch most people in a good mood or time. He sounds as though he has a enjoyable personality. Oh, that white chocolate cake has me so hungry for one. I simply love white chocolate. Have never had a white chocolate cake in all my life. I think there are some white chocolate Nestlé's candy bars in the frig. I just might go out & help myself to one..even though I'm suppose to be dieting. Just went out & got myself one. Hopefully, Paul will not notice that it's missing. He's usually the one who eats anything extra in the frig..decided it was my turn...oops!! Just heard him come in. Well, at least I finished the candy bar. Now if he finds out that I ate it, I'm afraid that he will go off his diet. He just lost his younger brother this past Labor Day Weekend. Mike was only 60 yrs old & dropped over from a massive heart attack. Heart problems are definitely in the LaBonte family. Paul is on high blood pressure pills. Before he was diagnosed with prostate cancer he had lost 60 lbs. Then after he was diagnosed, he more or less gave up on eating properly b/c he was depressed most of the time. I really want him to stay on his diet b/c he is & has been over weight throughout his life. He has gone as high as 340 lbs & he's only 10'4" tall. I would have been happy to send Buzz a Birthday Card...but I had no address to send it to. Well, give him a hug & wish him Happy Birthday from Jen in HOT AZ!! Glad he had so many cards & surprises to go through. Did you ever get his book finished for him? Loved the thought of him putting all his money into his car magnet & putting it behind the frig. He has to be a little character. I'm sure I would like him. That is the age I taught for many years. He sounds like he could be a very precocious child. Got to get to some other e-mails. ~Jen in HOT AZ ----- Original Message ----- From: <askgranny@juno.com> To: <SOUTHERN-CHAT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, September 13, 2010 1:13 AM Subject: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] Buzz's birthday > > A good time was had by all! Yes, I believe she lived in Trenton, NJ for a short time. As far as I know, she has one older sister who it seems was always getting a divorce. When I put out a missing person report on her, I got back a notice from the FBI which said that a Theodore Tyler had been arrested in Ft Meyers, FL. They more or arrest referred to a drug bust..but I never knew anything else. I did write to our best friend, April, who lived in Jackson, FL. She wrote me back & said she hadn't heard from Carolyn for years..didn't even know that Carolyn had been in the Ft. Meyers area. Just in case you are interested, Theodore Tyler was her Father. I do not remember he Mother's name. I have always been interested where she got the middle name of Kuhl from. It had to be a family name. ~J ----- Original Message ----- From: "Anna Marie Rahfeldt" <shorty6337@hotmail.com> To: <southern-chat@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, September 11, 2010 12:26 PM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] re > > Jen > > Did Carolyn ever talk about where she was born and raised or any of her > siblings? I love the following: Hello God, I called tonight To talk a little while I need a friend who'll listen To my anxiety and trial. > > You see, I can't quite make it Through a day just on my own... Shorty, I always have it in my head that I'm going to find her some day. I understand why she felt the way she did..but I had absolutely nothing to do with how things worked out. Every once in a while, I will check to see if I can find her again; however, things just do not match up. She would be around 67 or 68 yrs old today. I just hope that she has found happiness in whatever direction she has taken in her life. I know that she transferred from the college that we had been in together shortly after I left. (That's when I had transferred to Ames.) I have written to the University of WI in Madison to inquire if they had a student by that name up there & so far, they say they never had anyone up there by her name. Like you, I really hope she was not into drugs. I cannot see her doing that sort of thing; however, I guess people can change. She was pretty broken up after her boyfriend married my sister. If for no other reason, I would like to get in touch with her so I could tell her that Dick has passed away. I'll get give it more time. I will continue to look. I should go check on the Social Security Death List. However, if Carolyn had married, then she would not be listed under her maiden name, if indeed she had passed away. Thanks for your concern, Shorty & I'm glad you are so at home in Ames. Ames is a beautiful place to live & I know the folks are very special there. ~J ----- Original Message ----- From: "Anna Marie Rahfeldt" <shorty6337@hotmail.com> To: <southern-chat@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, September 09, 2010 5:20 PM Subject: Re: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] re > > Hi Jen, > > I am sorry that you haven't been able to find her. Hi Jen, I am sorry that you haven't been able to find her. Sometimes when you type in a name it comes up with their death notice or something saying that they had died or some information. I typed a friends name in google-it says that she had died in 1991-I am trying to get ahold of her husband, can't find him right now. So you didn't find any information on her - no death notice or anything like that? I pray that she didn't do drugs. People do change. I have changed a lot from when I was in my 20's. I had a lot of anger inside me. We moved to Ames, Iowa and I found several really good friends. One, the lady across the street, an ex-nun-she helped me through so much. Another lady that lives up the street she has also helped me. I believe that GOD led me here. I believe that HE leads you to where you are suppose to go. Gotta run for now.
