According to the Barren County marriage book (page 59) George Davenport married Mary F. Bowles on 24 Oct 1844. According to a letter written by Nathaniel V. Bowles written in December 1850 (transcribed by Inez M. Bowles in "Thomas Bowles, Hanover County", page 43) "I will write about my children ... Mary F. Bowles (born) Sept. 21 1825 Married Oct. 24th 1844, Died Sept. 30th 1846." Then later in the letter he says, "Mary's husband died in March and she in September, leaving an infant daughter 13 days old, who has been raised up to this time with her grandfather and mother. She is very sprighty and could we now have her and keep her she might make a splendid woman, but my hopes in that respect are all blasted, it is about 30 miles to where they live ..." From this I gather that George Davenport died in March 1846; that Mary had a daughter on or about 17 Sep 1846, and then Mary died 13 days later on 30 Sep 1846. Finally it appears that George's parents took the infant girl to raise. Anyone know the names of George's parents, or the name of the infant girl? This in not my line, and I have no additional information, but I thought this might be of use to someone. Charlie
