Enlisted for 18 months on or about 25 April 1779 in VA in company commanded by Captain Adam WALLIS in VA in the regiment commanded by Col Abraham BRIFORD, Continental line. Continued to serve until the 25th day of Oct 1780 when discharged in Hillsborough NC. He is late in applying because he just heard about his right to receive a pension. About 6-8 years ago he was in the possession of a small farm and previously had 2 grown sons living with him.List of possessions: 66 2/3 acres of land $182.50 1 loom @ $7.00 30 barrels of corn @ $30.00 1 grind stone @ $1.00 1 reel @ $1.00 1 flax wheel @ $1.50 1 cotton wheel @ $2.00 7 old chairs @ $1.75 1 dressing table @ $1.00 1 chest @ $1.50 1 table @ $2.00 1 bureau @ $6.00 1 cupboard & furniture @ $19.00 Kitchen furniture @ $10.00 12 hogs @ $11.00 7 head of cattle @ $38.00 1 head of horses @ $22.00 Farming tools @ $24.25 1 Waggon @ $70.00 Total: $533.00 Since March 18th - following changes made. 100 acres of land in Barren Co sold to John LAWRENCE (1826) in money $228. Sold 100 acres of land to Samuel MORRIS about 1827 - $150 in cash bonds. From this money he paid $60 for a just debt owed to Caira HILL ($50). Paid money owed to George HILL and the remaining $10 paid a doctor's bill for his daughter who is deranged ($20). Is a farmer, old and inform, not able to labor. Has daughter Rebecca age abt 26 yrs who is insane. Has niece of his wife named Martha BAGBY about 13 yrs old. Wife is old and infirm, not able to do much work.
