    3. Continuation of the 29 June 1939 news. Bids being received for cleaning the grounds at the Old Monroe (Mt Hermon) cemetery. On County Court Day, the Hon. Lilburn PHELPS of Jamestown KY and the Hoin. Heb LAWRENCE, Republican candidates for Circuit Court Judge in the district will be speeking. In the afternoon the Hon. John Young BROWN, Democratic candidate for Governor will be speaking. Warrants were issued in Barred County for Monroe Co men following a brawl at the Walter PAGE roadhouse near Glasgow Sunday night. The Glasgow Daily News reported that several men received severe cuts and bruises there on the Burkesville Road last night. Walter PAGE, the proprietor, said that the men came into the roadhouse and picked a fight with him. His head was bandaged today. No arrestes yet and the names were not reported. Last Wed, 22 June, Mrs Rosie PITCOCK and Preston SPEAR were married at the home of Madison ENGLAND. Judge J E MARTIN performed the ceremony followed by a wedding trip to TN. The couple is making their home at Mr. SPEAR's home on the Otia grade. 18 members of the Girls' Auxiliary of the T'ville Baptist Church and their guest of honor from Summer Shade, Miss Addie Mary BARTON, attended a picic with their leader, Mrs. Ruth Cook MOORE. They met at Old Mulkey. On 24 June, the following attended the campaign opening of Keen JOHNSON for Governor: Mr & Mrs Earl BRYANT, Garnet WHITESIDE, Clurie HEAD, Alton ROSS, Rube DODSON, Mr & Mrs Travis HAYS, Lee STEVENS, Dick PULLIAM, Stanley HEAD, Mamie PICKERELL, Tom HAYS, Chester TOOLEY, Cephus PAGE, Ben BIGGERSTAFF, Bug RICHARDSON,Larkin COPASS, Lillian GILLENWATER, Curtiss PETTITT, Ohlen CLAY, Terry RICHARDSON, John B WILLIAMS, Howard CLOYD, Thad RICHARDSON, Savage STEVENS, Sallie WHITESIDE, Jeff WILLIAMS, Guy TOOLEY, Lem MOSBY,Robert GERALDS and Jim TOOLEY. Impersonating a Federal highway engineer and giving the name of S H WILSON, an imposter in a dirty shirty passed a "cold" check for $15 in T'ville 9 June. Judge J E MARTIN received word from the FBI that this man is badly wanted. WILSON was also carrying false or stolen credentials. He was described as a strange gentle man who promised to blacktop the Old Mulkey road, highway 100, highway 63 and about everything we might want. Next week from 4 Apr 1940.
