Due to a dandy snow, our town is quiet this morning and at present, my server is down. It is up for a moment and then goes back down. So - for whenever you receive this! I am starting a series on the earliest settlers of Glasgow based on the original deed books. I am going to attempt to see if the webmaster of the Barren Co board can upload a plat map of Glasgow which was drawn in 1799 by John Gorin. (Will take awhile). Shown in the next series of posts will be shown the lot number, the grantee, the price paid, date of purchase, book and page # where recorded. This list was compiled by Ken Beard of our historical society and from my transcriptions of the deed books. In a few instances, there is no deed book reference.If more than one entry is shown for a lot, this is a sale of the lot from the original owner.
