Certificate of Pension issued 12 Nov 1833. Elizabeth Wright, widow, inscribed on Roll at $88 per year to begin 4 Mar 1836. Certificate of Pension issued 26 Nov 1839. Allen Co, 22 Aug 1832. In open court, Jarret Wright makes oath that he enlisted in Lunenberg Co VA and served under Capt. Thos EWEL. Was in the Battle of Monmouth, Tawley Hook and Stoney Point and the Battle of Guilford in Capt. Burd WALL's Co. Sered as a regular soldier about 3 yrs and as a volunteer 6 weeks. Wilson MOORE deposed 22 Aug 1832 who said that he was raised abt a mile from Jarrett in VA; was 2-3 years older than he. Deponent had 4 uncles by the name of John, Thomas, and Stephen MOORE and Bell HULL who was an uncle by marriage who enlisted at the same time as Jarret in his presence. They all enrolled under Dike RUDDER, an Lt on the plantation of Thomas Mooore. He saw them take their oath, only two of his uncles returned. Allen Co 17 Dec 1832, Jarret WRIGHT, age 73, made oath concerning his military service. It differs from the original in that he asserts that he was Cpl.in Capt Thos. EWELL's Co. Claims total service of 3 yrs, 5 months and 2 weeks and when he was Cpl he was in the Battles of Monmouth, Stoney Point and Towler's Hook. He was born 29 Mar 1758 in Lunenberg Co VA. After the war me moved to Caswell Co NC and then to Allen Co KY. Another deposition was made by him on 14 Oct 1833, then age 75, he said that for 5 months he served as drummer under Capt. Samuel GARLAND and in Col. CHRISTIE's expedition against the Indians. Wilson MOORE testified again - similar to above except he mentioned that Jarret lived with his father (Joseph) and WIlson lived with his grandfather, Thomas Moore. Allen Co 13 Aug 1839 before Circuit Court, Elizabeth Wright who was then 80 made oath that she married Jarret Aug 1781; he died 20 Dec 1835. John WRIGHT made deposition the same day, stated he was 69 and he knew Jarret before his marriage, was not present at the wedding but within a day of two afterwards and they were reputed to be man and wife. ** Covering jacket: WEAVER, John. Certificate of pension issued 1 May 1820. Patsey WEAVER, widow o John inscribed on Roll at $96 per year to be 4 Mar 1848. Certificate of Pension issued 27 Feb 1854. 18 Aug 1818, Allen Co KY. John Weaver declared on oath he served in the Company of VA Dragons commanded by Capt. James GUINN as a private and served 3-4 years. His schedule of property showed his total value as $116. Family consisted of his wife aged upward of 50 years, 2 daughters; one is over 21 and the other about 16; one son, aged about 18 who is sickly and very "weakly" and he was about 64. Allen Co, 28 July 1852. Patsey Weaver, aged about 85 made oath that she is the widow of John. She married him about 24 Dec 1787 in Halifax Co VA; her maiden name was Patsey NICHOLS. They were married by Parson DOBSON of VA. Her husband died 15 Jan 1844 in Allen Co. Same date Thos RICKMAN of Allen Co, in his 60th year, made oath that he knew the couple intimately since his earliest recollection; he was born and raised in the same neighborhood in Halifax Co. Stated that John and Patsey had 2 children well known to him - Nancy who married Joel LEGRAND and James who was several years older that he is. He doesn't hesitate to say that Nancy is now 63 or 64 yrs old and James about 61-62. John and Patsey moved to KY about 2 years before he did. Thomas H BROUGH, aged 55, gave similar testimony.
