This is the time to do it. I bought white duck wears like iron and cleans easily. I bought enough yardage for a large table 1.5 yards or more. hem it. After dinner give the guests a ball point pen NOT felt tip. Have them sign the cloth, write a message if they want, trace the baby's hand what ever. Now you can wash this and not loose the writing or sew it before washing, I use a simple outline stitch. The signatures should be a bit larger than the signature on your checks. The larger size is easier to sew. Along the hem I have the ledger.1. Thanksgiving 2006 sewed in the color I used for ALL the signatures, this year I am using orange. I use red and green for Christmas only, a soft shade of anything for Easter, for birthdays I have the birthday person select.(2. Jim's b/d 2006 in blue). It takes time to sew it, but it is a great memory. Ours is about half full. After Christmas I am giving it to the new bride in the family. She can keep it going.
