Ordered that Samuel GRIFFY pay Jas FRANKLIN for keeping a horse 5 days. No explanation. Ordered that Thomas MORRIS pay Isaac CASEY for same. Ordered that Edward YOUNGER, James NENVILL, Abner BOWEN, Robt BRINTON and Garmer (Farmer?) HALL be appointed Commissioners for evaluating lands taken by execution in the county. Hugh SMITH vs Wilson CLARK. Some faded out (this is a very old book!). WAKEFIELD and James ALLEN produced their certificates, took oaths, and are allowed to practice law in Barren Co. (Names spelled as shown). They withdrew. Deed from Christopher DICKEN & Mary his wife to Benj. PULLIAM, proven by oath of Dudley ROUNDTREE Jr; certified. James BERRY & Margaret his wife vs Cornelius DEWES [DEWEESE], dismissed at defendant's cost. Thomas HOMAN? assignee vs John YATES, William THOMPSON and thomas BLAKY, special bail. John BUFORD vs David LAWRANCE. Grand Jury returned and returned an indictment vs Thomas MAYFIELD, a true bill. Presented William WOOTAN for swearing and Amos HARBOUR for saying God d--- your soul and Solomon MASHON & Timothy MASHON for stealing. Also Dudly ROUNDTREE for breach of the peace and Nathaniel ROUNDTREE for flashing a gun at Benj MASHON. Jury discharged.William SKAGGS who is bound by his recognizance taken before Andrew WALKER appeared in discharge and the Complainant failed to appear; case dismissed. Commonwealth vs Joseph SCOTT - fined 5 shillings. Same vs John FISHER, fined $10. Joseph POLK vs Joseph BATES - deposition to be taken of James THOMPSON in Washington Co VA. John COLE vs John HALL, dismissed. Commonwealth vs James SANDERS, fined 5 shillings. Robt MORE vs William STRINGFIELD, John STRINGFIELD and Abraham McCURLY - rest faded.Faded name vs Robt HINDMAN was fined 5 shillings. Same unknown individual vs James SANDERS, continued. John CROW vs John E LANG/LONG fined $50, involved 400 acres of land obtained in the name of Will DUBERRY and Ascl? SKINNER. Daniel CURD was the garnisher. John MOSS vs Henry and Samuel RENICK, rest faded. Same vs same, bail set. Jas HINDMAN and Margaret McCLURE to Robt McCLURE deed vs Henry RENICK, bail. Court adjourned until next day.
