    3. Report from 25 Apr 1963: 2 Metcalfe people hurt by motorcycle - James Harold ROBERSON, 20 of enter and Edward SHAW, 18 of Route 1 Edmonton, accident happened at Gamaliel 1:45 pm Sunday. Rear tire blew out - Roberson driving. He was thrown clear of the wreckage but Shaw was pinned under the motorcycle. Roberson suffered a concussion with numerous lacerations and contusions on the face and body. Shaw hd 3rd degree burns on his back, fractured nose, lacerations & contusions. Treated at Monroe Co War Memorial Hospital. Miss Judy ISENBERG [photo], 16, junior at Valley High School, Valley Station, chosen member Valley Chapter of the National Honor Society; installation program 2 May. She the d/o Mrs. Roy JOHNSON and granddaughter of M/M B C GRIDER of T'ville. American Legion elects officers: Cecil PETETT re-elected commander of James CHISM Post 122 of the American Legion Thursday night. Johnnie GARMON was elected 1st vice-commander; Willie B COE the 2nd vice-commander; Clifton CARTER, 3rd vice-commander; Jesse E WELCH - finance officer; Earl WOOD, adjutant; J Clayton RICH, Chaplain & Jude Advocate; Dewey RUSSELL, sergeant-at-arms; Darrell CARTER, publicity chairman; W P ANDERSON, historian and John C MARRS Sr, welfare officer. Miss Jo Nell WILLIAMS, d/o M/M Ruel Williams enrolled for the spring semester at the Bowling Green College of Commerce; she is pursuing a course in Secretarial Science; a graduate of T'ville High School last year. George Earl MILLER [photo], 10, s/o M/M George MILLER of T'ville was 2nd place winner in the junior memory work & Bible drill contest at the KY Baptist Training Union Convention Apr 17. He a member of 1st Baptist Church here and a 5th grade student at T'ville School. He attended the convention with his parents, his brother, Joe Howard Miller, Mrs. J M DOWNING, Ricky MILLER, Rev & Mrs Nobel COTTRELL & M/M Orville PAGE. Barbara BARTLEY [photo], d/o M/M Morris Bartley of Route 5 T'ville won the Monroe Co 4-H Club Style Revue Championship in contest at T'ville School auditorium. She will represent Monroe Co in the State Style Revue to be held in Lexington in June. The annual king and queen contest was held following this - Junior King winner was Kelly SHIRLEY of Mud Lick Club. Junior Queen: Sue DAVIS of Union Hill Club. Senior queen: Katie MARTIN of the T'ville Club. Senior King: Tommy HOWARD of the Union Hill Club. Other participants and awards included: Aprons: Peggy YORK, Debra HOLCOMB, Martha K VEACH, Sue Ellen MARRS), Dorcus MASTERS; Jo Ann ENGLAND, Elizabeth YOUNG, Donna Rae WOOD, Anith McCONNELL, Peggy WILSON, Marilyn HARRISON, Ginger MILLER, Connie TURNER, Mae Sean SIMPSON (rest of article missing). Earl WELCH of Route 2 Mt Hermon and his son Larry, pleaded guilty to charges of assault and battery in Circuit Court Wed, fined $250 each and costs. They were charged with assaulting Ernest WHEAT, a school bus driver on Apr 11. Mr. Wheat sustained injuries and required hospitalization. Ray CROPPER of Gamaliel, Jack HURT of Lamb and Fowler PITCOCK of T'ville were appointed jury commissioners for the coming year; to meet Friday for a 5-day session where they will draw the names of 300 prospective jurors. Deaths: John W ANDERSON dies of heart attack, age 59. Died at his home 18 March 1963. Survived by his wife, Mrs. Ernest Anderson; daughter, Miss Lydia Anderson, both of T'ville; three sons, Barlow of Gamaliel, John Frank of Indianapolis and Freddie of T'ville; three sisters, Mrs Fannie WARREN, Mrs. Belle GOAD & Miss Margaret Anderson, all of T'ville; a brother, Preston of T'ville. Services at Liberty Methodist Church Friday, Rev. Sam WILLIS officiating, burial Liberty Cemetery; Yokley Funeral Home in charge. Luther B SHORT, 73, of Hestand died at the Monroe Co Memorial Hospital April 20, 1963. He is survived by wife, Mrs. Ethel PROFFITT Short; six daughters, Mrs Nancy KENICK of Frankfort IN, Mrs. Eva RITTER of Hestand, Mrs Lou MONDAY and Mrs Dean WILSON, both of T'ville, Mrs Elsie HUTCHERSON & Mrs Laverne ZONGHI, both of Indianapolis; two sons, Clarence of Indianapolis and Benny of T'ville; two sisters, Mrs Lele LEHAMAN and Mrs Ester TEET, both of Grand Prairie TX, 37 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren. Services at Germany Church of Christ Sunday; Bro Ross O SPEARS officiating, burial BAILEY Cemetery, Yokley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
