In Allen Co, the land on which Elisha and Fanny settled is located about four miles north of Scottsville on the North Branch of Bays Fork at the crossing of what was called "Old State Road". Occupied continuously by the Warden family from settlement to about 1890, the farm had two old houses. The approach to the farm, over what remains of the historic "Old State Road", fords Bays Fork Creek in a north easterly direction and proceeds up-hill for about a quarter mile to arrive at the larger and more recent of the two houses sitting above you on the hillside to the left with the remains of the springhouse down-hill and to your right. Between the two houses, though nearer the smaller one, and on the highest part of the hill when going from one house to the other, is the family cemetery. Elisha and Fanny are buried there, along with at least two daughters, one son and a son-in-law. There are at least five and possibly six other unmarked graves. The date for Elisha's death on the tombstone is 1831, but we know this is wrong because on the 17th Sep 1832 he appeared in Allen Co Court and applied for Rev War Pension. Elisha and Fanny had at least ten children. They are James, John, William, Elijah, Elizabeth, Cynthia Ann and Mary all born in Virginia. Asa, Jeremiah and Frances Ann were born in Kentucky. I am descended from the eldest James ( I feel sure James is buried in the family cem in unmarked grave) who married Rebecca Kelly; their dau Nancy married James Alfred Hayes from Simpson Co KY. In 1850 they went over the state line into Sumter Co TN to marry. I visited the farm in the 1980's and at that time the farm was owned by Robert Reynolds of Holland KY. I need help in Simpson Co to connect the Hayes family.
