Mrs C A CULLENS is worse & for the past several days has suffered all that a human could bear. Mrs Cora BAXTER remains in a very low stage of what seems like consumption and it is feared she will never be any better. Mr. Depp HARLAN of TX is on a short visit to his parents at Salt Lick TN and his sister, Mrs Lola CARTER, at Rock Bridge. Biography of Benjamin F COE (abstracted). Born April 15, 1846 in the SE corner of Monroe Co KY where he grew to manhood and always resided. Son of Squire Jesse COE, a native of Clay Co TN who was born June 5, 1811 and in infancy moved with his parents to Cumberland Co KY and in 1840 to Monroe Co, his present home where he has served 20 years as magistrate. His father was Joe COE who removed from Surrey Co NC to Jackson Co TN in 1809 and died in Cumberland Co in 1854 at the age of 70. He (Joe) acted as magistrate 35 years. Joe was the son of Isaiah COE of NC who died in 1834 at the age of 74. Jesse COE married Caroline, d/o Daniel & Margaret (MOORE) MURLEY of Cumberland Co (she born Apr 1 1809) and their children were: Elizabeth A. (GARNER), Isaiah, Milton, John J, Margaret (SHORT), Nancy (McCOY), Benjamin F and Jesse T. Benjamin F obtained a common school education at the schools of the vicinity in which he was reared. On Aug 8, 1873, he married Martha M, dau of Sperry & Nancy (MOORE) SMITH, of Metcalfe Co (she born July 29, 1851) and they had: Sidney M, Samuel (deceased), Hattie B, Jennie G, John E H and Charlie. Bernjamin Coe served as constable for 5 yrs, owns 100 acres of well iproved and productive land in good condition in a fine state of cultivation.
