Just a note of explanation again. More and more of you are using the Barren Co board (and others) to seek for information and this is great! There are over 17,000 posts out on the Barren Co board - not only queries but a LOT of source data such as wills, deeds, marriages, a ton of obituaries, etc. I go thru all these posts, and of course, posts made to the Barren Co board are cross-posted to the Barren Co list. As a help to you. When you finish the query, go to the surname box and enter ONLY the surnames that are mentioned in your query. Please don't list every surname you're working on. Type them in this format: (Made up names of course!) Jones, Smith, Slaphappy, Confusedone Type them in lower case separated by commas. Why? These names will be picked up by the rootsweb search engine. If you leave the box blank, it won't help in directing others to your query. As the board manager or whatever you call it, I check each query posted on the boards and make changes when I have time to the surnames listed in the query. I CANNOT make any changes to the body of the query - this is your information. But I can change the subject line and the surname box. It takes a goodly amount of time and we only do this to make it easier for others to find you. Be sure your subject line is concise - exactly who or what you are looking for. It makes it stand out better! And, again, when you see a post on the Barren Co LIST that was cross-posted from the BOARD - you need to go to the board if you have information. Many people who post queries on the board have never heard of the list. They will never see your reply if you reply to the list. Thanks!
