    3. Thomas BROWN - Order book 4, p. 127, 16 Oct 1820. Was 66 years of age on the 14th of June. A resident of Monroe Co KY in that part that was a part of Barren Co and Cumberland Co. Enlisted in 1777 in Capt. REED's Co, 14 Virignia Regiment in Contintental establishment; regiment was commanded by Col LEWIS. Was a resident citizen of the US in March 1818. Have not disposed of any property to make himself eligible. Own the following: One cow, one steer, 24 hogs, one horse, four sheep, two small plows, ax, saddle & bridle, one part of drawing chains and fixings, two weeding hoes, one pot oven and skillet, one old spinning wheel and reel, dresser, furniture including plates, knives, fork, cups etc; Bible, hymn book & 2 other small books. Is a farmer; unable to support myself due to the effects of being shot through the body. Family consists of wife Margaret, aged about 62; wife's mother, Nancy ANDERSON, aged about 86 years; daughter Betsy BROWN, aged about 20; Polly BROWN, aged about 17; grandson Jesse BROWN - an orphan and cripple from the White swelling, aged about 10. /s/ Thos BROWN. (white swelling: thrombosis and swelling of the legs, lso called milk-leg). William ANDERSON Febuary Court 1821. (20th). Age 65 on the 13th of March next. Enlisted for 2 years in Feb 1776 in VA in the company commanded by Capt Mathew JEWELL, Regiment commanded by Col. Alexr McCLANAHAN, Continental. Was discharged 2 months before the end of the enlistment. Was at the Battle of Brandywine and Germantown, several skirmishes. Has discharge. Can be proven by oaths of some old soldiers if required. Am a resident of the US, have not disposed of property to qualify. I have nothing but my wearing apparel. Am a farmer but unable to support myself. Family consists of wife who is 60; a little granddaughter between 13-15 years old. Could not exist without the help of my son Robert. Has had all all his property sold in the past as stated by John McFERRAN in his affidavit (not found) and has not been able to accumulate any property since. to be continued next week.
