Dateline 15 Apr 1948. Mrs Lizzie BROWN dies at home near Forkton. 56 years old, wife of Clarence, on 11 Apr. First married to to Tom CURTIS who died many years ago. They had two sons who survive - Kirk CURTIS of T'ville and Tommie CURTIS of Anderson IN. Surving by her 2nd husband are 7 children: Floyd, Burlie, Waymon, Eddeth and Jarene (all at home); Clurie of Gamaliel and Mrs. Randall McPHERSON of T'ville. Parents, Mr & Mrs J B CLEARY also survive along with five brothers & 4 sisters. Funeral at Old Mt Hermon by Bro M T PHEMISTER, burial at the cemetery there. Mrs Eva JACKSON, 63 dies at her home near Persimmon 5 Apr 1948. Wife of E B JACKSON who survives. Also survived by 3 sons, Ray and Billie of this county & Roy of Louisville. 2 daughters: Mrs. C C High of T'ville and Mrs Fred BASKETT of Springfield IL. Brother: Jim BAZEL of Forrest IL; two sisters, Amanda WADE of Glasgow and Mrs Ida RASNER of Louisville. 6 grandchildren survive. She became a member of the Ivy Hill Chuch of God early in life, lived a devoted Christian life. Burial at Skaggs Creek cemetery, services by Rev. J T CLEMONS and W H HOWARD. J R JOHNSON, 85, succumbed to a fatal heart attack at his home Wed evening, 14 Apr. Had been in ill health for sometime; had spent the afternoon on the streets of Tville & had returned to his home only a short time before he died. "Bob" lived most of his life in the vicinity of Lamb KY most of his life; was a prominent farmer & respected citizen. He had been forced to retire, moved to T'ville a few years ago & made many acquaintenance. Was 1st married to Josephine WHITEHEAD who died in 1904 - only surviving child is Fred of T'ville, a merchant. Later in life he married Nora PARE JOHNSON who survies. One chld, Adlia Hughes survives from this union. 3 grand- children. Services Friday at 1 at the T'ville Methodist Church and 3 at the Flippin Methodist Church, Rev. F A SANDERS and J W RAYBURN. Burial at Neal Cemetery near Flippin. Young man loses eye - Alvis HUME, 15 yr old son of Archie, lost his right eye in an operation at Community Hospital last Sat. He had been struck in the eye by a piece of iron wedge 31 Mar while helping his father split somepost on their farm near T'ville. Was immediately taken to the hospital and the piece was removed from his eye - thought he was making recovery when inflamation set up and the eye ball had to be removed.
