    3. In the news 29 Aug 1957: Deaths: Darrell Wayne COOTS, Jr. s/o M/M Darrell Wayne COOTS, died at the home of his grandparents, M/M Sam C. SCOTT of Aug 22nd. Age six months, 12 days. Also survived by M/M Cyril F COOTS of Foty, KY. Services by Elder Ervin A SCOTT at th Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Chapel, burial Old Mt Hermon Cemetery, Yokley Funeral Home in charge. Grover C CARTER, s/o the late M/M C W CARTER, born 25 Apr 1892 near Hermitage Springs TN where he spent the greater part of his life. Died Aug 2, 1957 in a Nashville Hospital. Was married to the late Edna WILSON who died in 1943. They had 5 daughters: Mrs Rebo NEWMAN of Hendersonville TN, Mrs Ruth CLEMENT and Mrs Bertha Lea COPASS of Red Boiling Springs, TN, Mrs. Jewell PRICE of Taylorivlle IL and Miss Ann CARTER of Nashville. Had 2 sons: Lewis of Cliffisde NJ and Frank of Nashville. 18 grandchildren, one great-grandchild. Also survived by sister, Mrs. B R HARLIN of Gamaliel & his late wife, Mrs Bettie BEAN Carter of Donelson TN. Burial Spring Hilll Cemetery near Nashville; faithful member of the Church of Christ for several years; well known in Clay Co TN and Monroe Co. Sanford E THOMPSON, age 60, mechanic at Sinclair Refining Co's garage, Louisville, died 9:15 am 26 Aug 1957 at KY Baptist Hospital. Suffered a stroke at his home Sunday, 107 Blackburn. Was a native of T'ville, had lived in Louisville since 1918. Overseas veteran of WWI, member Crescent Hill Methodist Church and VFW. Survivors: Wife, Mrs Anne STOLL THOMPSON; daughter, Mrs Robert M BURNETT; five brothers, Tazell of Dodge City KS, Charles of Decatur IL, Edwin of Jacksonville FL, Wiley of Celina TN and Sam. Three sisters; Mrs Willie MARSHALL of T'ville, Mrs Ansil PAGE of Decatur and Mrs Bertha PATTERSON of Ford City KS; one grandson. Services in Louisville 28 Aug. Marvin C JONES, 77, died at Monroe Co War Memorial Hospital Sat night, 24 Aug 1957. Had been in declining health for several months. Owner & operator of Jones Motor Court, having established it in 1952. Operated a tourist home & real estate business in Ocala FL before moving to T'ville; also operated a restaurant in Burkesville for about 10 yrs before going to FL. Was born near Martinsburg KY, s/o late John G & Fannie NORRIS JONES. News: Mrs Joe L TRAVIS, former Mary Lou COPELAND of Stone KY, completed the prescried nurses training program at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington; did three months of physhciatric affiliation at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington DC where she did affiliation with Hazelwood TB Hospital in Louisville. She attended the University of KY where she did college work required by the Good Samaritan Training program. She is currently working at the Monroe County War Memorial Hospital in T'ville.
