Wedding shower for Mrs. Clarence HAYES held at the home of her sister, Mrs. Winfred CROPPER Jan 31. She was Anna FORD before her recent marriage to Clarence HAYES of Sumatra, MT. She had been one of the rural teachers in the county. They will leave Feb 7 for their home in MT. Will TURNER of near T'ville will go to East Chicago IN to make his home with children there on account of Mrs. TURNER's death. Arriving soon after the burial of his mother last week was a son, George W TURNER of Lynchburg VA. He got as far as Glasgow but failed to get to T'ville in time for the services. Other family here for the burial included children Herbert and James Edwin Turner and Mrs. Berdie WEST, all of East Chicago. The Rev. William PATTERSON, retired Methodist minister died in a hospital in Wichita KS Jan 21. He was born Monroe Co and left here in 1888; a half-brother of Miss Alice PATTERSON, Monroe Co teacher and son of W S PATTERSON, deceased. He taught in the schools of Monroe Co early. Born 9 June 1860 in T'ville; had lived in Wichita for the past five years living with a son, Clive of 125 South Hydraulic. His last charge as a minister was in Berly, KS and he resided at Ford, KS. Surviving also is a daughter, Mrs Pascal LEWIS of Seal Beach CA; son William of Los Angeles; sister, Alice PATTERSON of T'ville; brother, Tom of Ford; granddaughter Jewell PATTERSON of Los Angles. Servifces wee held at the Broadway Mortuary Chapel, burial in College Hill Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Odell CROWE, son of Mr & Mrs E H CROWE of T'ville, a graduate of the 1941 class of Gamaliel High School recently completed the Junior Executive course at the Andrew JACKSON University in Nashville and was placed by them in the office of the N'ville Bridge Company. D E SHORT, Jr, CPA, president of the school, spoke highly of Odell and called attention to the fact that this young man is just 17 years old, has a brilliant mind combined with a lot of hard work.
