    3. BURCHETT, William, VA, S1179. Appeared in Cumberland Co 11 May 1833, age 78. Drafted as a private militia man in Lunenberg Co VA [all shown as spelled] & immediately entered the service in Eddyville, BROADNAX's Co. Stated he belonged to Christopher ROBERTSON's Militia Co when drafted. Robertson not being called out at that time. After his return from service, moved to Halifax Co VA and in the Spring of 1781, maybe about the 1st of May, was again drafted as a private militia man in a company commanded by Capt Moses TURNER. Joined Turner at the Halifax Court House. Captain was John FALKNER who did not go. Dismised from service in SC and enlisted again under Capt Edmund KING. Was born in Lunenberg Co VA 7 Oct 1754, lived there when called 1st into service, but then moved to Halifax sometime after the service. Lived there the 1st two tours, after the final close of the war moved back to Lunenberg Co. Lived there 4 years and then moved to Cumberland Co KY. Lives about 20 miles from the courthouse. John BURCHETT of Cumberland Co, age 71, made affadivit that the applicant was his brother. In a letter to the Pension Dept from William J DABNEY, 4 Feb 1845 of Albany KY, said J DABNEY, Jesse BURCHETT sometime ago requested me to write you and secure for him the arrears of his father's pension; William Burchett died 20 Jan 1838. BURCHETT, John, VA, S30,300. Appeared Cumberland Co Oct 1833, age 72. Enlisted Spring 1779, drafted militia man in the command of Lunenberg VA for 3 months under Anthony STEELE. Born 1761 Lunenberg Co VA; was residing there when enlisted, lived there a long time after the way. Then moved to Franklin Co VA where he remained until 1807 when he moved to Cumberland Co. William BURCHETT (above) stated this was his brother. They lived some distance from each other but always understood and believed that he was in the war. Administrator of John Burchett's estate (not named) received arrears of the pension under the law 7 June 1832 from 4 Sept 1833 to 11 Mar 1834. CARY, William, VA, S19424. Appeared 13 Oct 1832, age 77. Entered service under Cap Barnet MARCOM. Met at OSBORN's on James River. 2nd tour under Capt E BAW. Marched to Portsmouth. 3rd tour under Capt BRANCH, marched to Portsmouth. 4th tour under Capt David PATTERSON. Marched to Smithfield and adjacent county to watch movement of the enemy. Thinks 1st tour was in 1777 and the other tours in 1778 or 1779. 5th tour commanded by Capt Henry CHEETHAM at Chesterfield Court House. Went to Smithfield, returned before the army of the British to Petersburg where the battle was. Discharged at Culpeper Co VA. Reared in Chesterfield Co VA, moved from there to TN, Claiborne Co. From there moved to Cumberland Co KY about 3 yrs ago. Born in Chesterfield Co VA 14 Apr 1756, lived there until 1809. Lived in Claiborne Co until 1829 when he moved to Cumberland Co. CONNER, Lawrence, VA, S35853. Appeared in Cumberland Co 12 Oct 1820. Made application in his own house he being a cripple by wounds received during the Rev. War. Now age 67, served under Col WOOD, 12th Regt for 3 yrs under Capt Andrew WALLACE. Was in 5 battles: Jamestown, Monmouth, Guiliford, Camden (where wounded) and Stoney Point. Children's names are: Ester CONNER, 30; Jimmy Conner, 16, Margaret Conner, 13; Cornelia Conner, 18. Stated he had 3 daughters so Ester must be wife; said one of the daughters is helpless.
