    3. CHAPMAN, John Sr & Lucy B, VA, W905. Appeared Cumberland Co 20 Aug 1832, age 70. Enlisted under Joshua POWELL in Halifax VCo VA where then lived in 1780. Put under command of Capt Powell ELDRIDGE who it was said lived in Brunswick Co. Chapman moved to Wilkes Co NC and in Nov 1781 was put under the list, in Feb 1782 was drafted. Moved back to VA. Born in Halifax Co VA 1762; has a record of his age which was kept in his mother's prayer book by also in his mother's brother's Bible (George TYRE). Was living in Halifax Co when called into service the 1st and 2nd time. Returned to Halifax in 1783 and lived there about 48 yrs. Married in 1791 and lived there until the winter of 1828 when he moved to Cumberland Co. His widow, Lucy B CHAPMAN, made applicatin for pension in Fentress Co TN 26 Sept 1838. She was then 69 as of Dec 4th. She was born 4 Dec 1769; married 7 Feb 1791 in Halifax Co by a Baptist minister named Obadiah ECHOLS. Her husband (John Sr) died Cumberland Co 25 Dec 1833. Her maiden name was Lucy B WILLIAMS. John CHAPMAN Jr made affadavit in 1838 at age 36. He born in 1802 and the name of the children of his father was Rawley, his oldest brother. John Jr born 1 June 1793. His oldest brother has four children; his brother married in VA in 1813 and believes that his parents married in 1791. Daniel SINGLETON said he knew the soldier in VA. He appeared in Clinton Co Ky in 1843 before a Justice of the Peace; stated that Lucy B, widow, lived in Fentress Co living near the KY line, about 1 1/2 miles south of it. CREASY, John, VA - No number shown. Appeared 15 May 1834 in Cumberland Co. Was age 80, entered service in 1781 in Cumberland Co VA under Charles BALOUGH and Lt Wm ANDERSON. Immediately marched to Cumberland Co Courthouse VA, then marched to Prince Edward County. Then marched to the state of NC to Guilford Court House where that battle was fought 15 Mar 1781 in which battle the affiant was in the battle from beginning to end. Sometime later marched to Rockingham Co in pursuit of the enemy; discharged at the Cumberland Courthouse. Can prove the 1st tour by Moses SMITH and John SMITH of Adair Co KY. Creasy said he was born 1754 in Cumberland Co VA; after service moved to Henry Co VA where he lived for 25 years; then moved to Cumberland Co K. the Smith's knew him in VA. MILLER, John & wife Eleanor/Elenor, MD, W2647. Born abt 1762 or 1763. Made application in Cumberland Co KY 11 Mar 1833 at age 71 the 15th of July 1833. Enlistd 1781 under Capt Joseph WARD at Fredericktown MD. Was born in PA 16 July 1762. Lived in Montgomery Co MD when enlisted and until 1790 when he moved from there to Surrey Co NC. Lived there until 1812 and then moved to Cumberland Co KY. Widow was Elenor MILLER of Clinton Co KY who stated she was born 16 Mar 1779 in Surrey Co NC. Married John Miller 17 Sept in the 17th year of her age. Was married at her father's house (John GARNER) in Surrey Co by Lazarus WHITEHEAD, a Baptist minister. Her father lived at the time of her marriage 7 miles from Shallow ford on Yadkin River in Surrey Co. They lived together in Surrey Co from their marriage until 1810 when they moved to Cumberland Co where she now lives. He died 14 Sept 1845 in Clinton Co KY. Their oldest child was born 17 Oct 1798 - one of four children they had. Jacob, their oldest, Martin next, Nancy Peasey Miller next and the other died in infancy. Nancy Miller, their dau, is the widow of a PEARSY/PEASEY? deceased. Copied from a Bible kept by her son Martin. Martin MILLER made oath in 1848 that he copied the record 16 years ago. His father died 14 Spt 1845 in Clinton Co. According to the Bible records: John Miller born 16 July 1763. Elenor Miller born 16 Mar 1779. Jacob Miller born 17 Oct 1798, died when 5 years old.
