"This Indenture made and entered into this 29th day of March 1847 between Henry EUBANK a commissioner appointed by the Barren Circuit Court of the one part and Richard LOCK of the other part both of Barren County Kentucky. Witnesseth: That whereas in a suit in Chancery in the Barren Circuit Court Wherein Isaac N LOCK, Nancy & Peter OWENS were Complainants & Richard LOCK & others were Defendants at the Septemer term 1846 of said Court it was ordered & decreed that the land of said Jacob LOCK Senr. decd. be sold to the highest bidder on a credit of one & two years and Henry EUBANK was apointed a Commissioner to make said sale & convey the title to the same. And whereas on the 2nd day of November 1846 the said lands were offered for sale by said Commisioner on the premises having been previously advertised according to said decree and Richard LOCK being the highest and best bidder became the purchaser of Fifty eight & 3/4 acres by Survey lying in Barren County and known as the James LOCK place at the sum of $293.75 two hundred & ninety three dollars & 75 cts and gave his two notes according to said decress. Now therefdore In Consideration of th premises I Henry EUBANK Comr afsd have this day bargained & sold and by these presents doth bargain sell and convey unto the said Richard LOCK and his heirs forever the tract of land afsd. which is bounded as follows: Beginning at a small hickory & double red oak in a line of the Military survey thence N88W147 poles to three hickories near a road thence N2E64 poles to a statke thence S88W147 poles to two hickories and a red oak in the Military line thence with the same S2W64 p0oles to the Beginning. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances unto the said Richard LOCK and his heirs forever. It is especially understood that a lien is to be retained on the above named land and appurtenances to secure the payment of the purchase money which lien is hereby retained. In Testimony whreof the said Henry EUBANK Comr aforesaid hath hereunto set his hand and Seal the day and year aforesaid. /s/ Henry EUBANK, Comr {Seal}. Barren Circuit Court Sct. March Term 1847. I William GARNETET Clerk of said Court do hereby certify that the foregoing deed from Henry EUBANK as Commissioner to Richard LOCK was on the 29th day of March 1847 produced in court by said EUBANK and acknowledged to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned, whereupon the same was ordered to be certified to the Clerk of the Barren County Court for record, whih is done accordingly.
