Goodhope Baptist Church was originally in Barren Co, but with the formation of Metcalfe Co in 1860, it came within the bounds of that county. On July 14th 1838 the founding members met at a schoolhouse near Mr "VINZANT's" and constituted as a Separate Baptist Church. Abraham WOODARD, David ELKIN and Alexander GUPTON were the constituting men; they were to be a part of the Nolin Association of Separate Baptists.
